This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.
Sedalia Police Department
10:51 p.m.: Eric D. Dotson, 42, of Slater, was arrested after a traffic stop near the intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and South Main Avenue for a license violation. The driver was found in possession of methamphetamine and a pipe and was arrested and charged with drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
3:12 a.m.: Brandon J. Cooper, 33, of the 1500 block of South Osage Avenue, was arrested after a vehicle stop at West Third Street and South Missouri Avenue for a brake light out, failure to maintain the right half of the roadway, and driving with a revoked driver's license. The occupant had a Pettis County warrant. Both were transported to the Pettis County Jail. Cooper was placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of felony driving while intoxicated and misdemeanor driving with a revoked driver's license.
11:27 a.m.: The officer was dispatched to a business in the 3000 block of Clinton Road for a report of a burglary. The victim stated that earlier that morning, she was notified by the property owner that someone had broken into her storage unit. She arrived and saw someone had broken the door open and had stolen or broken $2,769.99 worth of items. The victim gave the name of who she believed was the suspect. At the time of the report, he has not been located for questioning.
9:19 a.m.: Officers responded to the area of East 28th Street and South New York Avenue for a report of an abandoned firearm. The firearm was located in a body of water in the area and was collected and held for safekeeping.
9:40 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 200 block of East Main Street for a report of a burglary. The owner stated that when they arrived, they noticed the front door had been damaged. Someone across the street told them they saw the damage and called the police. The damage was estimated at $530. A suspect has not been identified.
10:36 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Liberty Park Boulevard in reference to a disturbance. Officers identified the subjects involved and were made aware that one of the family members suffered from mental illness. The situation was de-escalated and a referral to Burrell Behavioral Health was given to assist the family and the subject.
1:52 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 300 block of South Ohio Avenue for a report of property damage. The victim stated sometime over the last seven months, someone cut the copper tubing on her air conditioner unit. The repair bill was $500. There are no suspects at this time.
9:01 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of East Ninth Street in reference to a possible disturbance with a weapon. Information was given that a female had fled to another location while the male was still present on scene. Officers arrived and detained three males pending further investigation. All detained parties were later released after a report was completed for documentation.
Pettis County Sheriff's Office
10:17 a.m.: Daniel Leison, 37, of Hughesville, was arrested after deputies were dispatched to Hughesville for a vehicle driving through all the ditches in town. Deputies located the suspect's vehicle and Leison was transported to the Pettis County Jail. He was placed on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of formal charges of operating a vehicle with a revoked driver's license, second-degree property damage, second-degree trespassing, failure to show proof of insurance, failure to register a motor vehicle with the Department of Revenue, and operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner.
10:23 a.m.: A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a black Chevrolet Tahoe from entering into a lane where a red signal was showing near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and Oak Grove Lane in Pettis County. The driver was issued two citations for the traffic stop, no operator’s license and no proof of insurance. At the conclusion of the traffic stop, the driver gave consent to search the vehicle and an illegal substance was located. The passenger was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold.
12:45 a.m.: Ernest L. Brown, 40, Sedalia, was arrested after deputies conducted a traffic stop at U.S. Highway 50 and Highway MM on a vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit. Brown was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked, and released for driving with a revoked driver’s license.
2:05 p.m.: Deputies took a report of fraud in the 23000 block of Highway 127 in La Monte.
Missouri State Highway Patrol
2:23 a.m.: Rodney Rehkop, 45, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, speeding, no insurance, and failure to dim headlights. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.
8:48 p.m.: Darren K. White, 56, of Columbia, was arrested in Saline County for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Saline County Jail and released.
1:58 p.m.: Suzyn B. Hale, 58, of Kansas City, was arrested in Henry County for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Henry County Jail and released.
8 p.m.: Ethan T. Mudd, 29, of Sedalia, was arrested in Moniteau County for speeding and driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Moniteau County Jail.
12:09 p.m.: Rodger E. Harkey, 38, of Clinton, was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Benton County. He was transported to the Benton County Jail and released.
3:35 p.m.: Clarence J. Twyman, 31, of Stover, was arrested in Morgan County for a misdemeanor Colel County warrant and no seat belt.
