This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

May 16

9:08 p.m.: Ronald James Blum, 57, of the 1600 block of West Third Street, was issued a citation after officers conducted a vehicle stop at West Main Street and Dundee Avenue. A driver was identified and run through dispatch and confirmed to have a revoked driver's license. He was issued a municipal citation and released at the scene. 

May 17

5:53 a.m.: Brian K. Rhynes, 57, of the 2500 block of Anderson Avenue, was arrested after officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance. It was determined Rhynes had assaulted a female subject and he was taken to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending a second-degree domestic assault charge. 

May 18

2 a.m.: Bennett J. Hager, 23, of Fulton, was arrested after a traffic stop for failure to maintain a lane at State Fair Boulevard and West 16th Street. It was determined the driver was intoxicated and Hagar was transported to the Sedalia Police Department and was charged with driving while intoxicated. 

Incidents

May 12

9:15 p.m.: Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired registration in the 900 block of West Seventh Street. It was discovered the vehicle’s registration tabs had been stolen. A report was completed. 

May 16

1:46 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the lobby of the police department in reference to an identity theft report. A subject known to the victim applied for a loan with the victim as a cosigner. The incident was documented in a report.

3:24 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of South Lafayette Avenue in reference to a burglary report. The complainant said someone kicked in the door of a residence.

May 17

1 p.m.: Deputies took a report of a suspect attempting to use counterfeit bills to purchase gas in the 22000 block of Chevalier Road in La Monte.

Arrests

May 17

11:39 a.m.: Carter R. Bechaz, 23, of Sand Lake, Michigan, was arrested in Saline County for felony possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Saline County Jail and released. 

5:32 p.m.: Jason L. Johnson, 28, of Kansas City, was arrested in Benton County for driving while intoxicated and driving with a revoked driver's license. He was transported to the Benton County Jail and placed on a 12-hour hold.
