This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Sedalia Police Department

Arrests

May 17

12:20 p.m.: Cosa W. Hoskins, 32, of the 900 block of West Third Street, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the area of West Fourth Street and South Missouri Avenue in reference to a domestic disturbance involving a firearm. The victim was able to drive to the police department and report the suspect, who was apprehended in the 800 block of West Fourth Street. The suspect was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center for medical treatment and then to the Pettis County Jail. He was placed on 24-hour hold pending state charges of second-degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon, second-degree property damage, and violation of a protection order. The suspect was given a total bond of $51,500 for the two Pettis County warrants and was also held without bond on a felony failure to appear warrant from Saline County. 

3:40 p.m.: Tyler James Hill, 25, of the 1300 block of East Ninth Street, was arrested after a vehicle stop at North Park Avenue and Pettis Street when an officer noticed the vehicle was unregistered. A check revealed Hill had lost his driving privileges. He was issued a municipal summons and released from the scene. 

May 21

1:43 a.m.: Cheyenne Sahara Dawn Smith, 25, of the 1300 block of Boonville Street, was arrested after an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle without working license plate lights on South Montgomery Avenue near East Sixth Street. It was determined the driver was intoxicated. Smith was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where she provided a breath sample that showed her blood-alcohol level above .08. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked, and released to a sober driver. 

1:51 a.m.: Erandi Servin-Huaroco, 28, of St. Louis, was arrested after officers conducted a vehicle stop at East Broadway Boulevard and South Hancock Avenue. All subjects were identified and run through dispatch, which confirmed the driver had no operator’s license. He was issued a municipal citation and released from the scene. 

2:54 a.m.: Sierra N. Smith, 25, of the 1500 block of South Missouri Avenue, was arrested after officers responded in reference to a physical domestic disturbance. Officers made contact with both parties involved and determined Smith was the primary aggressor. She was arrested for fourth-degree domestic assault and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was placed on a 24-hour hold. The male had minor injuries. 

11:55 p.m.: Joshua J. Burnett, 32, of Kearney, was arrested after a traffic stop for a vehicle weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed. The traffic stop at West Broadway Boulevard and South Limit Avenue found the driver was intoxicated. Burnett was transported to the Sedalia Police Department where he refused to provide a breath sample. A search warrant was obtained and a blood draw was conducted. He was transported to the hospital, the Pettis County Jail, and was placed on a 24-hour hold pending a charge of driving while intoxicated - alcohol prior offender. 

May 22

6:29 a.m.: Audrey Elizabeth Wright, 32, of Kansas City, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to the 1300 block of South Carr Avenue for a subject check. The caller stated that there was an unknown vehicle parked in their driveway. Contact was made with the occupants and their information was run through dispatch. It was determined that the female gave false information and had several warrants. Wright was charged for the warrants and identity theft. 

12:11 a.m.: Jacob Davis Borts, 26, of Fortuna, was arrested after a traffic stop at South Marshall Avenue and East Broadway Boulevard for failure to maintain a lane. It was found Borts was intoxicated and he was transported to the Sedalia Police Department. He was issued a citation for driving while intoxicated and released to a sober driver. 

Incidents

May 20

6:31 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the police department lobby for a missing person report. The missing person was not actually missing and requested to be taken off the missing person status. An assist agency report was done to clear the missing-person status. 

May 22

1:40 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a possible burglary in the 900 block of South Grand Avenue. Investigators revealed that a crime had not been committed. 

Pettis County Sheriff's Office

Arrests

May 21

3:30 a.m.: Salvador Nandho, 42, of Sedalia, was arrested after deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 2100 block of West Broadway Boulevard. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released with a charge of no driver’s license-third or subsequent offense.

8:56 p.m. Brianna Griffey, 23, of Sedalia, was arrested after deputies were dispatched to the 3000 block of Brooking Park Avenue in Pettis County in reference to an assault report. Griffey was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of fourth-degree assault.

Incidents

May 16

8 p.m.: K9 Unit was dispatched to the 4500 block of Forest Park Road in Pettis County in reference to trespassing. Deputies will be submitting a charge of first-degree trespassing on the subject.

Arrests

May 20

1:40 a.m.: Jacob D. Smith, 27, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released. 

10:42 p.m.: Amber M. Murphy, 33, of Knob Noster, was arrested in Johnson County for felony driving while intoxicated and driving with a revoked driver's license. She was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released. 

May 21

6:35 p.m.: Curtis W. Petree, 46, of Tipton, was arrested in Moniteau County for a misdemeanor Jefferson County warrant for failure to appear, driving with a suspended driver's license, no seat belt, and no insurance. He was transported to the Moniteau County Jail. 

8:17 p.m.: Alexander J. Gates, 67, of Blue Springs, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated and failure to register his motor vehicle. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released. 

May 22

7:45 a.m.: Dustin Lee D. Parker, 30, of Oak Grove, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and speeding. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail and released. 

9:06 p.m.: Brian S. Harvey, 27, of La Monte, was arrested in Pettis County for felony resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.
