This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

May 23

11:36 p.m.: Darren Alexander Morey, 26, of the 100 block of West 14th Street, was arrested after officers responded to a business in the 400 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a subject reportedly sleeping in the ATM line. Officers performed standardized field sobriety tests on the subject and determined he was driving while intoxicated. He was also driving with a revoked driver’s license. He was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for a blood draw and a fit of confinement check, then transported to the Pettis County Jail pending charges of driving while intoxicated - drugs - prior offender, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended/revoked driver’s license, and misdemeanor marijuana possession.

Incidents

May 16

12:30 p.m. Officers conducted a subject check in the 400 block of South Grand Avenue. Several children were located in the home with unsanitary conditions and drug activity. A hotline was made to the Children's Division.

May 17

5:25 p.m.: An officer initiated a traffic stop on a box truck near the 3600 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a defective brake light. A check through dispatch showed the driver had a suspended driver’s license, which was seized. He was released from the scene.

May 21

10:58 a.m.: An officer responded to the 1200 block of South Lamine Avenue in reference to a burglary. The victim stated that sometime overnight, someone forced open an exterior basement door and made entry. Nothing appeared to be amiss within the basement. At the time of the report, the suspect has not been identified.

May 22

9:02 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of South Grand Avenue for a multiple vehicle hit-and-run accident. The suspect vehicle had struck two parked cars and another vehicle that was in the roadway. The suspect vehicle was located a short time later by Missouri State Highway Patrol and a short vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect vehicle eventually stopped and the driver was arrested.

May 23

9:21 a.m.: An officer responded to the 600 block of South Missouri Avenue for a report of theft. The victim stated someone attempted to steal parts from his vehicle.

10:37 a.m.: An officer responded to the 1800 block of South Beacon Avenue for a report of property damage. The victim stated she noticed damage to her vehicle that was not there the previous day.

May 23

7:06 p.m.: Officers responded to the Missouri State Fairgrounds for a property damage report. When officers arrived, contact was made with ground security who stated a window was broken. Officers found someone had thrown a large brick through the window of the building. There are no suspects at the time of this report.

7:18 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 2900 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a possible physical disturbance in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined the disturbance did not turn physical. The subject in question was not located and a report was taken.

Incidents

May 23

12:45 p.m.: Deputies took a report of theft from the Pettis County Jail. An AT&T black Samsung cellphone valued at $2,000 was stolen. Charges are being submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor's Office pending formal filings.

Arrests

May 21

8:17 p.m.: Alexander J. Gates, 67, of Blue Springs, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and failure to register his motor vehicle. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.

May 22

7:45 a.m.: Dustin Lee D. Parker, 30, of Oak Grove, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and speeding. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail and released.

May 23

10:15 p.m.: Adam C. Birkes, 40, of Springfield, was arrested in Henry County for felony driving while intoxicated - chronic offender. He was transported to the Henry County Sheriff's department and released.

May 22

9:06 p.m.: Bryan S. Harvey, 27, of La Monte, was arrested in Pettis County for a felony resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.
