This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

May 25

2:10 a.m.: Mason C. Michel, 21, of Knob Noster, was arrested after officers conducted a vehicle stop in the 600 block of West 16th Street for failing to signal. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for a blood draw and then to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released.

7:30 a.m.: Alexis Ojeda, 22, of the 1300 block of East Ninth Street, was arrested after observed driving with an expired temporary tag. Ojeda had a suspended license, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released.

May 26

12:03 a.m.: Tyler Nathaniel Kendall, 18, from the 600 block of Maple Lane, was arrested in the area of Maple Lane and West Sixth Street for several moving violations. After an investigation, it was determined that the driver was in possession of cocaine, THC wax, and drug paraphernalia. Kendall was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

May 25

10:50 a.m.: An employee from a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard came to the SPD lobby in reference to a theft. A male subject made a fraudulent return of merchandise and then walked out with other items he did not pay for. The theft totaled $281.26. The suspect was identified through security footage and state charges of stealing are being requested. 

12:02 p.m.: Officers took a report of a stolen firearm. The victim said someone took a pistol out of his unlocked car on May 23 while it was parked in the area of West Sixth Street and South Barrett Avenue. There is no suspect information. The firearm has been entered as stolen.

5:34 p.m.: A burglary was reported in the 400 block of Albright Court. Property damage and theft were reported. The victim provided suspect information. Around $100 was stolen plus property of undisclosed value.

6:55 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1600 block of East 11th Street for a report of property damage. Someone had damaged the latch to a shed in the caller’s backyard and a plastic tarp covering a boat. He estimated the total amount of damage at $75. There are no suspects at this time.

Arrests

May 26

12:28 a.m.: Owen T. Vanhooser, of Overland Park, Kansas, was arrested for driving with a suspended driver's license after a traffic stop on Highway 65 near Highway 52. He was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. 

1:06 a.m.: Tiffany Ditzfeld was arrested after deputies assisted the Sedalia Police Department by responding to the area of Highway M and Worth Road for trespassing. Deputies placed Ditzfeld in custody for pending charges of first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery for the Sedalia Police Department.

May 25

10:49 p.m.: Gabriel Orr, of Sedalia, was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner after deputies conducted a vehicle stop for a vehicle traveling at excessive speeds on Highway 50 near South Grand Avenue.

May 26

4:39 a.m.: Karen M. Metz was arrested after an incident in the area of Highway MM and Worth Road. A red Toyota Camry almost collided with stationary patrol vehicles with emergency lights activated. Metz was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

May 22

2:15 p.m.: Eric G. Long, 29, of Versailles, was arrested in Morgan County for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, no seat belt, possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana, operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a summons.

May 23

10:05 p.m.: Bailey N. Sechrest, 23, of Stover, was arrested in Morgan County for driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving, and no seatbelt. She was released for medical treatment.
