This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

May 4

11:14 p.m.: Olen Lee Stephens, 25, from Independence, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Westwood Avenue for a reported disturbance. A subject had been making threats to a female known to him and was attempting to get into the apartment. Stevens was arrested during the investigation and transported to the Pettis County Jail. He was placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of first-degree harassment and second-degree property damage.

May 3

7:33 p.m.: A woman reported to officers in the SPD lobby regarding identity theft.

9:10 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a forged bill report. The business recovered a counterfeit $20 bill and turned it over to law enforcement. 

May 4

7:26 a.m.: Erica Ray Tackett, 20, of the 500 block of West 22nd Street, was issued a summons after a traffic stop on South Limit Avenue. Tackett was found in possession of alcohol, which was confiscated. Tackett was issued a citation for minor in possession of alcohol. 

1:43 a.m.: A woman reported to officers in the SPD lobby that she had been harassed and threatened in the 900 block of Westwood Avenue by an ex-boyfriend who was upset over a car that she had bought. A charge of first-degree harassment has been submitted to the prosecutor.

3:50 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 3800 block of South Limit Avenue for a report of theft. The victim stated that sometime in the past half-hour he dropped his wallet in the parking lot. He wasn't able to find his wallet anymore and thinks it was stolen. The victim said the wallet contained around $700 cash and cards. 

4:29 p.m.: A business in the 200 block of East 24th Street reported a vehicle stolen from the lot sometime within the last week. At the time of the report, there was no suspect information. The vehicle was entered into a statewide database as stolen.

8:59 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of East 13th Street for a report of property damage. The victim stated that sometime between 1 and 7 a.m. someone had damaged his motorcycle. The victim's motorcycle had a damaged tail light and gas tank. Damage was estimated to be $400. 

11:47 p.m.: An officer took a report over the phone of an assault and property damage involving a juvenile subject. The victim reported the property damage was $50. A juvenile referral was completed for the suspect.
