This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

April 23

2:02 a.m.: Peyton T. Buchanan, 23, of the 2500 block of Albert Lee Avenue, was arrested after the police department received a pair of 911 calls about a single-vehicle collision at South Ohio Avenue and West Seventh Street. A car had collided with a large dumpster on the west side of South Ohio Avenue. Investigation revealed the driver was intoxicated and he was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold for driving while intoxicated/prior offender. 

May 2

4:07 p.m.: Lisa D. Ramos, 55, of Columbia, was arrested after officers responded to the 2800 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a subject check. A computer check showed Ramos was a suspended driver. She was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was booked and released pending State charges of driving with a suspended/revoked license.

May 6

8:06 a.m.: Kevin A. Clark, 41, of Hughesville, was arrested after an officer responded to the 1700 block of South Harrison Avenue for a domestic disturbance. The victim stated she was assaulted by a man known to her. The victim had injuries to her face and arm. A primary physical aggressor was determined and Clark was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, and placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of third-degree domestic assault. 

Incidents

May 4

2:16 p.m.: A victim reported damage to his vehicle parked in the 1200 block of East Third Street. The victim valued the damage at $280. At the time of the report, there was no suspect information. 

May 5

1:01 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 3200 block of West 16th Street in regard to a theft that had occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 2. The store's video showed the suspect taking a laundry cart which has an approximate value of $350. Contact was made with the subject who admitted to taking the cart. No arrest was made at that time due to the subject’s location being outside city limits. Charges are being requested for stealing. 

May 6

10:57 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1000 block of South Lamine Avenue for a report of property damage. The victim stated that the rear window of their vehicle had been damaged for an approximate value of $150. There is no suspect.

11:25 p.m.: Officers initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle for failure to use its turn signal. A check through dispatch showed the driver did not have a valid driver's license and officers smelled the odor of marijuana. A search found marijuana and an open intoxicant container. The marijuana was seized for destruction. No charges were sought for those two violations. The driver was issued a City ticket for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. 

11:48 p.m.: Officers responded to the 800 block of West 16th Street for a disturbance. The caller said her son had brandished a knife at her, threatened her with it and broke the front door window. The victim wishes to pursue charges, but the suspect was not at the scene. Charges were later submitted to the Pettis County prosecutor's office for armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, second-degree property damage, and fourth-degree domestic assault. 

1:19 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 800 block of East 12th Street for a report of a burglary. The victim stated that sometime between 5:45 and 11:30 a.m. someone entered the victim's residence and stole $2,889 worth of items. Photos were taken of the scene and attached to the report, there are no suspects at this time. 

1:46 p.m.: An officer took a report of a theft from a vehicle in the 1700 block of Heck Avenue. The caller stated their vehicle had been broken into on Monday. There are no suspects at this time. 

2:29 p.m.: A deputy was dispatched to the 800 block of Ruth Ann Drive regarding a theft. Someone had broken into the victim’s storage unit in the back of the property and stole several items with an aggregate value of approximately $4,350. The victim stated they would like to press charges.

Incidents

May 2

8:04 a.m.: Deputies took a report of a motor vehicle accident in the area of U.S. Highway 65 and Sacajawea Road.

May 6

5:56 p.m.: Deputies took a report of stealing that occurred in the 2900 block of Oak Ridge Road in Pettis County. The investigation continues. 

6:45 p.m.: A woman flagged down a deputy on parole on the 1300 block of East Boonville Road stating her 9-year-old son was hit by a 16-year-old male. Contact was made with both parties and a juvenile referral will be completed and forwarded to the juvenile office. 

10:47 p.m.: Deputies took a burglary report at a business in the 4700 block of South Limit Avenue where a PlayStation PS4 and a black backpack went missing between the hours of 8:50 and 10 p.m. There is a suspect with no leads at the time of the report.

May 6

9:04 a.m.: Tyler J. Ketchum, 28, of Oak Grove, was arrested in Johnson County for felony possession of a controlled substance, speeding, no seat belt, operating a motor vehicle with no title, and possession of stolen property. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.
