This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Oct. 19

9:10 p.m.: Jonathan D. Burl, 37, of Smithton, was arrested after officers responded to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a subject trespassing. Officers confirmed the subject had been trespassed from the business previously. Burl was issued a citation and released. 

Oct. 28

6:57 p.m.: Gary Douglas Horn, 37, of Green Ridge, was arrested after officers responded to the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a subject lying in the parking lot. Contact was made with the intoxicated subject, who became aggressive toward officers and was placed into protective custody. He was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for medical treatment and then to the Pettis County Jail for a 24-hour hold pending charges of third-degree assault, two counts of fourth-degree assault, and resisting arrest. 

Oct. 29

6:17 a.m.: Patrick T. Peterson, 59, of Warsaw, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to the south city limits for a wrong-way driver. The vehicle was located near McDonald's on South Limit Avenue, where the officer performed a traffic stop in the drive-thru. Peterson exited the vehicle and fled on foot and a short foot pursuit took place. He was captured, arrested, and transported to the Pettis County Jail. He was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of driving with a revoked driver’s license, possession of dangerous drugs and resisting arrest.

Oct. 20

8 a.m.: John Paul Nevels, 69, of the 100 block of Villa Drive, was arrested after an officer responded to a business in the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard to investigate reported shoplifting. The complainant said he was still in the store with concealed merchandise on his person. Nevels was taken into custody for shoplifting approximately $46 worth of alcohol. He was also advised he had been trespassed from all of the business’ properties. 

Oct. 27

1:44 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 800 block of Thompson Boulevard in reference to a theft report. The suspect came into the store and left without paying for several pieces of clothing. 

3:30 p.m.: An officer responded to the 2500 block of Stacey Lane regarding a property damage complaint. An unknown suspect caused minor damage to a parked car. 

Oct. 29

11:31 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the police department for a call regarding identity theft in the 100 block of West Broadway Boulevard. They gathered the necessary information to generate a report.

Oct. 30

2:20 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of North Osage Avenue for a report of shots fired. Officers secured the scene and spoke with subjects. Shell casings were collected, but no victims were identified. The suspect has yet to be located. 

11:37 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the SPD lobby to speak with a subject about someone using her information to try to order cell phones. The reporting party used a translator to report someone trying to make cell phone purchases that were canceled before money was taken from her account. A report with the AT&T fraud division was made and there are no suspects. 

2:39 p.m.: An officer responded to the 300 block of East Second Street for a report of a stolen vehicle. A female reported a male stole her vehicle. The subject later informed officers the vehicle was being returned and she no longer wanted to pursue charges. 

6:43 p.m.: An officer responded to the 2800 block of South Stewart Avenue for a report of a missing juvenile. Information was collected on the subject and then entered into the system. No foul play is suspected.

6:50 p.m.: The driver-side mirror of a motor vehicle was damaged in the 1600 block of West 20th Street. It could not be determined what caused the damage of approximately $500.

7:45 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the police department for a runaway juvenile report. Officers collected the report and did a search of frequented locations but were unable to locate the juvenile. 

9:11 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1200 block of West 16th Street in reference to a hit-and-run accident. The reporting party stated she struck a pedestrian in the roadway after he ran out in front of her. The pedestrian, described as a male wearing all black, left the scene on foot. No one has been identified.

Incidents

Oct. 29

6:30 p.m.: A deputy was dispatched to the 1300 block of East Boonville Road in Pettis County for a domestic assault. The victim said the male suspect left the area on foot and she did not know where he was going. Deputies and Sedalia Police officers searched the area but could not locate him. Charges of second-degree domestic assault will be filed with the State. The victim was transported by Pettis County Ambulance District for her injuries.

Oct. 28

6:43 p.m.: Miranda M. Heineken, 27, of Concordia, was arrested in Johnson County for leaving the scene of an accident, driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving resulting in a crash, and following too close. She was transported to the Johnson County Jail and released. 

Oct. 29

12:36 a.m.: Amber T. Racicot, 23, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Pettis County for felony possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail and released. 

10:51 a.m.: Arlando R. Milton, 49, of Kansas City, was arrested in Johnson County for felony driving while revoked - third offense. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released. 

3:15 p.m.: Quinn J. Thompson, 25, of Leavenworth, Kansas, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain the right half of the roadway. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released. 

Oct. 30

1:56 a.m.: Jacolby S. Monteer, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated and failure to have two lit headlamps. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and released. 

3:34 a.m.: Diana Gorpinich, 23, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated and driving with a revoked driver's license. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail and released. 

4:14 p.m.: David A. Leonard, 42, of Park Hills, was arrested in Henry County for two Barton County misdemeanor warrants, driving with a suspended license, and operating a motor vehicle without proof of insurance. He was transported to the Henry County Jail.
