This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Nov. 6

7:21 p.m.: Anton V. Zalkin, 18, of the 27000 block of Griessen Road, was arrested after officers observed a vehicle traveling at 65 mph in a 35 mph zone. The driver was placed under arrest for careless and imprudent driving and was released roadside with citations for vehicles to be driven carefully, and driving 26-30 miles an hour over the speed limit. 

Nov. 7

7:05 p.m.: Alfredo Carlos, 24, of the 1500 block of South Grand Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop at East Fifth Street and South Lamine Avenue for no front license plate. The driver had a suspended license and was intoxicated. Carlos was arrested and transported to the police department then the Pettis County Jail where he was booked with charges of driving while intoxicated – prior offender, and driving with a suspended license.

Nov. 9

8:09 p.m.: Justin Lee Drogsvold, 39, of the 1000 block of East Seventh Street, was arrested after a traffic stop for running the stop sign at Third Street and Engineer Avenue. He was arrested for being intoxicated on drugs, having two outstanding Benton County Warrants, and one from Pettis County. He was transported to a hospital, then to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked on the warrants and a State charge of driving while intoxicated - drugs. A charge of disobeying a stop sign is also being requested. 

Nov. 10

1:24 a.m.: Jason Lee Johnson, 36, of the 100 block of Covered Bridge Road, was arrested after a traffic stop in the area of South Osage Avenue and West Broadway Boulevard for speeding and failure to maintain a lane. It was determined Johnson was intoxicated and he was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 12-hour protective custody hold pending charges of misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.

4:07 a.m.: Jonathan L. Boyer, 37, of the 400 block of East 27th Street, was arrested after officers responded to the 1800 block of East 14th Street for a report of suspicious activity. The caller reported seeing a subject looking into vehicles. It was found that multiple items were taken from multiple vehicles in the area. The suspect was located and arrested near the intersection of East 16th Street and South Monroe Avenue. Property was returned to three victims. At the time of the arrest, the suspect was also found in possession of methamphetamine. Boyer was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending one count of possession of a controlled substance and three counts of stealing from motor vehicles. 

6:30 a.m.: Daniel Noel Schnack, 52, of Sedalia, was arrested in the 600 block of East 17th Street for a report of a burglary in progress. He was arrested at Bothwell Regional Health Center with a non-life-threatening injury and was charged with first-degree burglary, harassment to frighten or disturb another person, and an outstanding failure to appear warrant. Schnack was reportedly intoxicated.

2:40 p.m.: Travis E. Crellin, 45, of the 1100 block of South Massachusetts Avenue, was arrested after officers responded to a business in the 300 block of West Broadway Boulevard for an assault. Officers made contact with the suspect and victim, both of whom had injuries. The victim wished to pursue charges and Crellin was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, and booked with charges of fourth-degree assault and harassment to frighten or disturb another person. 

3:56 p.m.: Maribel Vasquez Rubio, 46, of the 300 block of North New York Avenue, was issued a summons after a caller reported a vehicle disobeyed a school bus stop sign near the intersection of Saline Street and McAnally Court. The suspect was later located at Walmart where she admitted to the violation. Rubio was issued a summons for failing to obey a stop sign and driving without a valid driver's license.

4:40 p.m.: Natasha Rose Parkhurst, 23, of the 900 block of Westwood Drive, was arrested after officers responded to the area of Winchester Drive and West Broadway Boulevard for a motor vehicle accident. Parkhurst was discovered to have a revoked license and no proof of insurance. She was issued a summons and released on scene.

7:30 p.m.: Justin Tye Lindsay, 31, of Windsor, was arrested after a vehicle stop for improperly displayed registration and registration belonging to another vehicle near West 20th Street and South Grand Avenue. A consensual search of the passenger located methamphetamine. Lindsay was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

11:17 p.m.: Stanley Walter Coterel, 67, of the 300 block of Stewart Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop at West Pettis Avenue and North Quincy Avenue for a vehicle swerving. It was discovered the driver had a suspended license and was intoxicated. He was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department where a search warrant was obtained for a blood draw. Coterel was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 12-hour hold pending charges of felony driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license, and safekeeping.

Nov. 11

12:15 a.m.: Kira P. Robinette, 22, of the 600 block of South Moniteau Avenue, was arrested after officers responded in reference to an assault. The complainant stated her juvenile daughter was assaulted by an adult female suspect. All parties were identified and Robinette was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released pending State charges of third-degree assault and harassment to frighten or disturb another person.

11:12 a.m.: Devonta M. Hernton, 18, of the 400 block of North Park Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop for a vehicle without plates near South Grand Avenue and West Seventh Street. Hernton was arrested, transported to the police department and released with a City ticket for no driver's license.

Nov. 12

12:02 a.m.: Ilya Pavel Malanin, 18, of the 900 block of East 24th Street, was arrested after a caller reported a man known to her had struck her with a belt. The caller had injuries consistent with her statement so Malanin was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, and placed on a 24-hour hold pending a charge of third-degree domestic assault.

Oct. 27

10:53 a.m.: A victim reported to the police that a suspect came into a business in the 500 block of West 16th Street and was provided service but did not pay. The owner wished to pursue charges. A State charge of stealing was submitted to the prosecutor's office. 

Nov. 6

10 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a reported runaway juvenile. The juvenile returned the next morning at 2:25 a.m. 

Nov. 7

2:56 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a home in the 1900 block of South Stewart Avenue for a domestic disturbance. The caller’s juvenile son had destroyed a picture frame inside the home during an argument. A referral is being forwarded to the juvenile office.

Nov. 8

5:22 p.m.: A car was stopped in the area of Driftwood Drive and Clinton Road for a license plate that did not return and a suspicion of a forged registration tab. After an investigation, it was determined the driver was displaying tabs from another vehicle. Charges of forgery and failure to register a vehicle are being requested.

Nov. 9

8:16 p.m.: An officer took a report in the police department lobby and in reference to a harassment call in the 300 block of West Third Street. Information was gathered from the subject and a report was completed to document the incident.

Nov. 10

2:20 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of South State Fair Boulevard in reference to a missing juvenile. The reporting person last spoke to the juvenile after school when he requested to go to a friend's house. The juvenile is normally home before 11 p.m. When he did not return the reporting party became concerned and contacted law enforcement.

4:38 a.m.: An officer responded to the 300 block of East 14th Street in reference to a theft from a vehicle. The victim stated her wallet and medication were stolen from her car overnight. There are no suspects at this time.

8:04 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1800 block of East 12th Street for a report of theft. The caller stated sometime overnight someone rummaged through her unlocked vehicles stealing change.

10:17 a.m.: An officer responded to the lobby of the police department for a theft report in the 500 block of East Walnut Street. The victim reported that some personal items were stolen from her residence over a week ago. She wished to pursue charges.

10:38 a.m.: An officer spoke with a victim over the phone regarding the theft of a pair of Apple iPods from a business in the 3000 block of West Broadway Boulevard. There is no suspect information at this time.

10:59 a.m.: An officer responded to the 300 block of North Grand Avenue regarding a possible burglary in progress. The residence was searched and cleared and there was no suspect found. The reporting party stated someone had stolen several tools from the residence valued at $169 and had damaged part of the property valued at $10.

11:04 a.m.: An officer met a victim in the lobby of the police department who reported a suspect failed to return a rented pickup truck to the 2000 block of South Limit Avenue. They wished to pursue charges and the vehicle has been entered as stolen.

5:04 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a theft report. The victim stated he set his cell phone on top of the Coinstar machine and walked away from it. He noticed it was missing and went back to get it but it was gone. He was able to track his phone when it pinged in Warrensburg.

Nov. 11

1:17 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1900 block of West Ingram Avenue in reference to a runaway. The caller said she found the front door open and when she checked on the residents, one had left. The runaway has not been located and has been entered as a missing person.

4:12 a.m.: Officers were flagged down by a subject in the 2000 block of East Seventh Street stating his niece was missing and had not returned home from work. She was entered into the system as missing. 

8:14 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1500 block of South Mildred Avenue for a theft report. The victim said a pair of sunglasses and gloves were taken from her unlocked car two nights earlier. The stolen items were found to already be in the police department's evidence storage after being seized from a suspect in a different case.

10:46 a.m.: Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Sneed Avenue for a report of a burglary. Contact was made with a male subject who reported that while he was gone an unknown suspect gained entry into his garage and stole several tools.

11:04 a.m.: An officer met a victim in the lobby of the police department who wanted to report that a suspect failed to return a rented pickup to a business in that 2000 block of South Limit Avenue. The vehicle has been entered into the system as stolen. 

12:09 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1800 block of East 13th Street for a theft report. The victim wished to report that the night before someone went through their car and stole checks. There is no suspect information at this time. 

10:12 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 3400 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a stolen vehicle. The complainant stated that a female suspect entered a company vehicle and drove away. The female suspect has been identified but both the vehicle and suspect have not been located at this time.

Nov. 14

8:55 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft. A male suspect walked out of the store with a cart full of items. A report has been completed.

Arrests

Nov. 10

2:30 p.m.: Deputies conducted a vehicle stop near the intersection of Thompson Boulevard and West 11th Street for failure to display a front license plate. The driver was arrested for an outstanding failure to appear warrant from Sedalia was issued a summons for operating a vehicle without a valid license - third or subsequent offense, possession of marijuana - 10 grams or less, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. A passenger, Samuel I. Gravitt, of Sedalia, was issued a summons for possession of marijuana - 10 grams or less and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Dixon was transported to the Pettis County Jail. 

Incidents

Nov. 10

6 a.m.: Deputies took a report from a Sedalia woman that someone had used her personal information to open a credit card account.

8:30 a.m.: Deputies took a report that someone had ransacked an unlocked vehicle in the 1600 block of South Monroe Street. The investigation continues.

4:20 p.m.: Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the 38000 block of Highway ZZ in Ionia. 

Nov. 11

7:25 a.m.: Deputies were called to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of South Missouri Street in Green Ridge.

Arrests

Nov. 12

12:57 a.m.: Timmothy G. Rhoton, 34, of Knob Noster, was arrested in Johnson County for felony fleeing, failure to yield, driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving, leaving the scene of a crash, and not driving on the right-half of the roadway. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.
