This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Oct. 30

7:42 p.m.: A vehicle was stopped at the corner of East Broadway Boulevard and South Center Avenue for a defective tail light. Joseph A. Shields, 19, of the 5400 block of South Limit Avenue, was arrested for driving with a revoked license.

8:52 p.m.: A traffic stop was initiated for a vehicle disobeying a stop sign at West Seventh Street and South Vermont Avenue. The driver provided a bad identity. His identity was later discovered and he was found to have a suspended license. Jesus M. Velazquez, 49, of Sedalia, was arrested for driving with a suspended license and identity theft.

Oct. 31

2:06 a.m.: An officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 300 block of West Broadway Boulevard for failing to maintain the right half of the roadway. After an investigation, it was discovered the driver was in possession of marijuana and impaired by it. Her license was also expired. Barbara J. Clark, 37, of Glasgow, was arrested for misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle on a highway without a valid license and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

11:13 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the area of West 17th Street and South Kentucky Avenue for a report of shots fired. A subject stated an individual in the 1600 block of South Kentucky Avenue had fired a gun. Officers went to the residence where the suspect confessed to firing a round to stop his two dogs from fighting in the backyard. Joseph M. Allen, 25, of the 1600 block of South Kentucky Avenue, was issued a municipal summons for discharging a firearm in the city limits.

Nov. 1

1:03 a.m.: A hit-and-run accident that occurred on Welch Court was reported. Prior to officers’ arrival, the suspect arrived back at the scene. After an investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Martha A. Reed, 46, of the 400 block of Welch Court, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

2:40 a.m.: A driver was stopped at the corner of East Fifth Street and South Emmet Avenue for speeding. Abraham C. Parkhurst, 20, of the 1700 block of East Fifth Street, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and speeding.

Incidents

Oct. 30

10:48 p.m.: A 2006 Hyundai Azera was reported as just having been stolen out of a business parking lot in the 2000 block of South Limit Avenue. The vehicle was located driving around the east end of Sedalia. A traffic stop was attempted which resulted in a vehicle pursuit. The suspect later lost control of the vehicle near West Broadway Boulevard and Winchester Drive resulting in a minor traffic crash. The suspect fled on foot. The investigation was ongoing at the time of the report.

Oct. 31

11:18 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 1600 block of South Limit Avenue for a forgery. Two subjects had attempted to pass a fake $100 bill at the business. The bill was collected by the officer.

11:46 a.m.: Deputies took a report of suspect(s) who had damaged a political banner in the 4000 block of West 32nd Street.

Oct. 29

9:45 p.m.: Jayce J. Chenault, 22, of Warsaw, was arrested in Benton County for felony delivery of a controlled substance, felony unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Oct. 31

2:12 a.m.: Angela R. Brown, 43, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated and failure to signal.

11:50 p.m.: Cecilio Rubio, 20, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated, no valid license and failure to maintain the right half of the roadway.

Nov. 1

12:43 a.m.: Ian X. Harper, 17, of Kingsville, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated.

4:15 p.m.: Hailey L. Walker, 23, of Grandview, was arrested in Henry County for attempting to steal a vehicle, resisting arrest and careless and imprudent driving.
