Police Reports Oct. 12

This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Oct. 8

8:55 a.m.: Robert W. Perez, 42, of the 600 block of East 18th Street, was issued a summons after a traffic stop at West Broadway Boulevard and South Stewart Avenue. The driver had a revoked license status out of California. 

Oct. 9

7:45 a.m.: Nikolay Paramonovich Zhelezogio, 75, of the 900 block of Wilson Road, was arrested after officers responded to the 700 block of West Fourth Street for an assault report. Contact was made with the victim who had a minor injury and wished to pursue charges. The suspect was located at his home and arrested on charges of third-degree assault and for an active Pettis County warrant. 

11:47 a.m.: Amy R. Naylor, 38, of Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested after a traffic stop on a car for expired registration near West Broadway Boulevard and South Limit Avenue. The driver's license status was suspended and she was arrested, transported to the police department, and released with a City ticket for driving with a suspended license.

2:03 p.m.: Travis L. Edgar, 44, of the 900 block of Olson Road, was arrested after an officer responded to the 400 block of North Grand Avenue for trespassing. The officer made contact with the caller who said the suspect had taken off running down an alley and had an active warrant. The officer pursued the suspect on foot for four blocks. The suspect then hid under a log until the officer gave him commands to come out. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail and booked for resisting arrest.

10:44 p.m.: Richard D. Ward, 61, of the 1900 block of South Marvin Avenue, was arrested after officers responded in reference to a physical domestic disturbance. The victim stated that the suspect head-butted her multiple times. Ward was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending State charges of third-degree domestic assault. 

Oct. 10

3:35 a.m.: DeAndre Anthony Ladale Laney, 24, of the 600 block of East Moniteau Avenue, was arrested after officers were dispatched for a domestic disturbance. As a result of the on-scene investigation, Laney was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of fourth-degree domestic assault, tampering with the victim, second-degree property damage, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

5:50 p.m.: Nikea M. Payne, 18, of Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested after officers responded to a business in the 3100 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a theft report. Officers made contact with a store manager who said three female subjects entered the store and left with merchandise without paying. The Johnson County Sheriff's Office was able to make a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle in Johnson County, apprehending suspects. The adult suspect was transported to the Pettis County Jail and put on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of felony stealing.

Incidents

Oct. 8

7:31 a.m.: An officer responded to the 1600 block of West Ninth Street in reference to a hit-and-run accident. The victim stated a U-Haul van he rented was struck while parked in front of his residence. Minor damage to the rear driver’s side was noted. There are no suspects at this time.

12:43 a.m.: A victim came to the police department to report an assault that happened Oct. 7. The victim had bruises on their nose and a swollen right wrist. They stated they knew the suspects. A statement was written and a report was taken. 

9:46 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of South Brown Avenue for a report of a runaway juvenile. The runaway has not been located and has been entered as a missing person.

10:12 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 3000 block of South Limit Avenue in reference to a theft from a vehicle. The complainant stated three juveniles entered her vehicle. One of the juveniles was identified. Nothing was reported stolen. 

Oct. 9

12:20 a.m.: An officer spoke with a caller in the 900 block of Olsen Road who reported that several documents were taken from her. There are no suspects at this time. 

9:31 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of South Ohio Avenue for a report of property damage. An unknown suspect threw pieces of roof from buildings in the area of South Ohio Avenue. There is no suspect information at this time.

11:11 a.m.: An officer responded to the 1000 block of South State Fair Boulevard for a theft report. The victim said one of his license plates was stolen. He wished to pursue charges.

11:59 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1700 block of East Seventh Street for a theft report. The caller stated someone stole her son's bike that was left unsecured on the side of their house. The bike was a black Mongoose BMX bike worth $200.

3:11 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1600 block of South Brown Avenue for an assault that was no longer in progress. Video was obtained of the assault and the investigation continues. 

Oct. 10

1:56 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of South Ohio Avenue in reference to a domestic disturbance. The caller said a 14-year-old male known to her damaged property and assaulted her. A juvenile referral was made.

6:19 p.m.: Officers responded to the 900 block of Westwood Avenue in reference to a property damage report. The complainant stated that juveniles splattered paint all over his vehicle. The juveniles were identified. 

6:49 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of East Seventh Street to take a report of a neighborhood dog that bit a neighborhood cat. The incident is under investigation. 

Oct. 11

12:01 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of East 16th Street for reported harassment. A suspect has been named and officers are investigating the case.

Arrests

Oct. 9

2:44 a.m.: Kieran A. Rich, 21, of La Monte, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain the right half of the roadway. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and released.

5:55 p.m.:  Brent D. Spellmeyer, 33, of Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested in Saline County for driving while intoxicated and driving with a revoked license. He was transported to the Saline County Jail and released. 

Oct. 10

12:05 a.m.: Damon R. Lane, 36, of Holdenville, Oklahoma, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, misdemeanor resisting arrest, leaving the scene of a crash, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail and placed on a 12-hour hold.

3:31 p.m.: Harold O. Jordan, 59, of Kansas City, was arrested in Saline County for driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving. He was transported to the Saline County Jail and released.
