This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Sept. 30

6:28 p.m.: Yale Burney Barkbflet, 19, of the 24000 block of Smasal Road, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a reported theft. The suspect was identified, charged with felony stealing, and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

7:49 a.m.: Zachary D. Recoat, 29, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers responded to the 1600 block of South Limit Avenue for a report of a stolen vehicle and a hit-and-run accident. A female subject reported that a male suspect had stolen the vehicle, almost drove into her, crashed into the side of a building, and fled from the area. It was discovered that the same suspect also struck a house in the 1800 block of South Beacon Avenue and fled. The suspect was discovered and taken into custody. Recoat was taken to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of stealing a motor vehicle, second-degree assault, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, careless driving, driving with a suspended license, and driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Incidents

Sept. 29

7:50 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the Missouri State Fairgrounds for a hit-and-run accident. The victim stated that while he was away metal detecting, someone ran into his vehicle and left the scene. 

2:28 p.m.: A subject came to the police department to report that someone attempted to use his information to open a bank account. The suspect is unknown at this time.

4:57 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the area of Missouri Pressed Metals in reference to a harassment report. The victim said a juvenile threatened to kill him, which he took as a credible threat. A juvenile referral was sent to the Juveniles Office.

Sept. 30

2:55 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of East Fifth Street in reference to a property damage report. The victim said someone keyed her vehicle causing approximately $1,000 worth of damage to the paint.

3:59 p.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a theft report. The business wished to pursue charges and a report was taken.

Oct. 1

2:22 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to an assault call in the 500 block of West Seventh Street. While on the scene it became apparent that there had been a gun stolen. Officers completed the report of the assault and completed a report for the stolen gun.

Incidents

Sept. 30

5:52 a.m.: Deputies investigated a burglary from the 21000 block of U.S. Highway 50. The investigation is ongoing. 

6:58 p.m.: Deputies took a report from the 200 block of North Walnut Street in Houstonia of a package stolen from a residence.

Arrests

Sept. 30

5:33 p.m.: Marc R. Brewington, 32, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and released. 

10:35 p.m.: Cheryl A. Dooley, 60, of Edwards, was arrested in Benton County for driving while intoxicated, driving while suspended, and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. She was transported to the Benton County Jail and released.
