This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Oct. 2

3:24 p.m.: Officers responded to a shoplifter at a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard which had occurred on a prior date. The suspect was contacted and Dillon J. Pettis, 23, of the 1700 block of South Vermont Avenue, was arrested for shoplifting.

Oct. 18

12:15 a.m.: Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of West Cooper Street and North Prospect Avenue where the driver was discovered to have a revoked license. Martez L. Troy Jr., 35, of the 200 block of South Massachusetts Avenue, was arrested for driving with a revoked license.

1:57 a.m.: A vehicle was stopped in the area of West Seventh Street and South Kentucky Avenue after it sat at a stop sign for at least 15 seconds, stopped past two stop lines and slowly rolled through another. It was determined the driver was intoxicated and Krystal D. Hill, 27, of the 1300 block of South Harrison Avenue, was arrested for misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.

2:07 a.m.: Officers observed a vehicle driving in the area of West Seventh Street and South Moniteau Avenue with the driver being known to have a suspended license, which was confirmed. Keith E. Cook, of the 400 block of Welch Court, was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

3:50 a.m.: Officers responded to the 100 block of Autumn Avenue in reference to a domestic assault. Through an investigation, the primary aggressor was determined and Kyle G. Lindgren, 25, of the residence, was arrested for second-degree domestic assault.

3:42 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance in the 3700 block of West 10th Street. Information was given that the suspect was choking another individual inside a vehicle as they were trying to get away from the suspect. Upon officers’ arrival, the subjects had exited the vehicle. The suspect was located following the individual and was told to stop and get on the ground. The suspect was not compliant and was taken to the ground where he tried to pull away from the officer before being put in handcuffs. Michael A. Etter, 29, was arrested for second-degree kidnapping and felony third-degree domestic assault. While en route to the jail, the suspect began hitting his head on the cage of the patrol vehicle resulting in visible injuries to his face. The Pettis County Jail refused to take the suspect so he was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center but refused medical treatment. He was deemed fit for confinement and was taken back to the jail.

Oct. 19

1:19 a.m.: A traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and Curry Drive. The driver was found to have a warrant and a revoked license. Robert J. Ball, 53, of Independence, was arrested for the warrant and driving with a revoked license.

Incidents

Oct. 17

1:31 a.m.: A traffic stop was attempted on a vehicle near the intersection of east Sixth Street and South Lamine Avenue. The vehicle fled and collided with a street curb, disabling the vehicle. The suspect then fled on foot and was not located. 

Oct. 18

7:01 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival an officer saw a black vehicle leaving the scene at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped and the driver stated they had been involved in a disturbance and returned to the scene with the officer. They reported they had been assaulted by an individual known to them who stole $1,560 worth of items from them and caused $200 worth of damage to their vehicle. The suspect was not located.

3:02 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 2500 block of Bristol Lane regarding property damage. A rock had been thrown through a window of a residence, damaging the window and blinds valued at $320.

Pettis County Sheriff’s Office

Arrests

Oct. 16

6:33 p.m.: Deputies were at a business in the 5600 block of South Limit Avenue for a vehicle check. Jaylea Dove was arrested for a City of Sedalia warrant and Melvin Osburn was arrested for Pettis County warrants and receiving stolen property.

Incidents

Oct. 18

3:21 p.m.: Deputies recovered a stolen vehicle out of Sedalia in the 5000 block of South Park Avenue. The owner was notified and the investigation was ongoing at the time of the report.

Arrests

Oct. 17

4:12 p.m.: Dean T. Thomas, 51, of Belton, was arrested in Johnson County for a felony Johnson County warrant and no seat belt.

Oct. 18

6:43 p.m.: Michael W. Jarvis, 55, of Kansas City, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated.

9:40 p.m.: Joe A. Douglas, 78, of Kansas City, was arrested in Morgan County for driving while intoxicated.
