This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Oct. 10

1:27 p.m.: Crystal Gayle Vansel, 44, of the 400 block of North Grand Avenue, and John W. Sant, 40, of the 700 block of North Stewart Avenue, were arrested after an officer was dispatched to the 300 block of North Harding Avenue regarding the theft of two tires. Vansell was arrested by Pettis County deputies in the 300 block of West Clay Street in Smithton. Sant was located and arrested in the area of North Grand Avenue and William Parkhurst Drive on Oct. 22. They were booked and released pending the filing of charges for first-degree trespassing and stealing of motor vehicle parts.

Oct. 22

9:26 p.m.: Jason P. Herrick, 40, of the 1200 block of East 11th Street, was arrested after a traffic stop for a vehicle drifting between lanes on West 16th Street and South Limit Avenue. It was determined the driver was intoxicated and he was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for a blood draw, then to the police department where he was booked and issued a traffic ticket for driving while intoxicated and released to a sober driver. 

Oct. 23

2:51 a.m.: Anita S. Banakh, 23, of the 2100 block of Route B, was arrested after she was observed weaving in traffic on South Limit Avenue near Plaza Drive. It was determined the driver was intoxicated and she was arrested, transported to the police department, breathalyzed, and issued a traffic ticket for driving while intoxicated. She was released to a sober driver. 

9:13 a.m.:  Justin D. Woolery, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers responded to the 100 block of East Third Street for a report of vandalism. It was discovered the suspect had vandalized multiple buildings in the area causing $1,500 in damages. The suspect was located and taken into custody. Woolery was discovered in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of 10 counts of second-degree property damage, misdemeanor drug possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Oct. 24

3:31 a.m.: Christie Lynn Petree, 29, of the 2600 block of Martha Lane, was arrested after officers responded to the 300 block of East Saline Street in reference to a physical disturbance. The victim stated a female subject tried to enter her vehicle and began hitting it. The victim drove off and the suspect suffered minor injuries but began harassing the victim. The suspect was identified and treated at Bothwell Regional Health Center. Petree was released from Bothwell, arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked, and released pending state charges for harassment and second-degree tampering.

8:44 a.m.: Juan Aguare Yat, 27, of the 100 block of South Quincy Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop at West Broadway Boulevard and South Grand Avenue for disregarding the signal light. Yat did not have a valid driver's license and was arrested, taken to the police department, and issued City tickets for operating a vehicle without a valid license and disobeying a signal light. 

8:53 a.m.: Angela Ruth Asbury, 46, of the 400 block of East Sixth Street, was arrested after a vehicle stop at West Fifth Street and South Moniteau Avenue for expired registration. A check showed the driver's license expired in 2013. She was taken into custody and released pending the formal charges. 

11:35 a.m.: Shannon D. Stockwell, 43, of the 400 block of West Fifth Street, was issued a summons after a vehicle stop at West Fifth Street and South Vermont Avenue for a defective brake light. Stockwell’s driving privileges had been suspended and he was issued a summons. 

3 p.m.: Maribel Madrid, 39, of the 300 block of West 10th Street, was issued a summons after an officer responded to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a reported theft. Madrid was issued a summons for failing to scan a number of items when checking out. 

Incidents

Oct. 20

1:13 p.m.: An officer took a report over the phone regarding fraudulent use of a credit card resulting in more than $447.52 being illegally charged at Walmart in Sedalia. 

Oct. 22

9:54 a.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 200 block of Winchester Drive in reference to a stolen catalytic converter. Management stated a catalytic converter was cut off a customer's vehicle sometime during the last two days. A suspect has not been identified.

10:02 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1600 block of East Boonville Street in reference to a theft. The victim stated that a flute she had loaned to someone was sold by that person without her permission.

4:26 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 2900 block of West Main Street for a burglary report. Days before, someone had damaged property at the business and stole items. There is no suspect information at this time. 

7:22 p.m.: Officers responded to the 800 block of Crescent Drive in reference to harassment. The victim stated he was being harassed by messages. Suspects have been named, but have not been contacted at this time.

Oct.23

8:34 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to an assist agency call at a business in the 2800 block of West Broadway Boulevard. A firearm that was stolen out of Sugar Creek was recovered at the pawnshop. 

10:35 a.m.: Officers responded to the SPD lobby for a harassment report. The victim said the suspect was threatening to disseminate sexually explicit images of the victim on the internet. The victim wished to pursue charges for threatening non-consensual dissemination of private sexual images.

2:07 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to property damage. The employees stated someone spray-painted a heart on the building. 

4:08 p.m.: An officer responded to the 200 block of West Avenue for a burglary report. The victim said someone entered his home and stole money. He wished to pursue charges.

5:06 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to Vermont Park, 1400 S. Vermont Ave., in reference to a possible weapon offense. The caller reported two juveniles may have presented a pistol and a knife in the park. 

5:46 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 4400 block of Wisconsin Avenue for a reported theft of a cell phone. The suspect is unknown at this time.

6:26 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 3100 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a reported cell phone theft. The suspect is unknown at this time. 

10:32 p.m.: Officers responded to the 200 block of East Walnut Street in reference to a hit-and-run accident. The victim stated that her vehicle was sideswiped while parked. At this time a suspect has not been identified.

Oct. 24

1:06 p.m.: Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of East Jackson Street and North Hill Avenue for a registration violation. Contraband was located in the vehicle and was taken to the police department to be destroyed. 

2:49 p.m.: An officer responded to the 1000 block of West Third Street for a theft report. The victim said his license plate was stolen from his vehicle.

Pettis County Sheriff's Office

Incidents

Oct. 21

1:30 p.m.: Deputies and the Pettis County Fire Protection District responded to a possible structure fire at 1305 E. Boonville Road. During the investigation, it was determined to be an electrical fire. Deputies and the Fire Department were assisted by the Missouri State Fire Marshal.

Oct. 22

9:30 a.m.: Deputies responded to the 1100 block of Sue Lane in La Monte for a report of domestic assault.

Oct. 23

1:30 p.m.: Deputies took a theft report in the 33000 block of Cottage School Road in Pettis County. Approximately 70 feet of copper piping was stolen valued at around $350. 

6 p.m.: Scott Paul Powell was arrested after the Pettis County K-9 unit and deputies were dispatched to the 1100 block of Sue Lane in La Monte in reference to a physical disturbance. Powell was arrested for second-degree domestic assault and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Oct. 24

Midnight: Deputies took a report for a minor assault in the 1300 block of Boonville Road in Pettis County.

Arrests

Oct. 24

10:41 a.m.: Lorenzol Ellis, 44, of Florissant, was arrested in Morgan County for driving while suspended and a misdemeanor Camden County warrant for failure to appear-driving while suspended. He was transported to the Morgan County Jail. 

4:36 p.m.: Brady A. Goodrich, 24, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released. 

Oct. 25

1:42 a.m.: John M. Waugh, 43, of Stover, was arrested in Benton County for driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. He was transported to the Benton County Jail and released.
