This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Sept. 27

9:02 a.m.: Tina Marie Swatek, 59, of Sedalia, was arrested after an officer conducted a wellness check in the 1500 block of South Limit Avenue. The suspect was highly intoxicated and was taken to the Pettis County Jail for safekeeping. 

Sept. 28

5:55 a.m.: Gregory Allen Hulbert, 43, of the 1400 block of South Beacon Avenue, was arrested after a vehicle stop near West 20th Street and South Quincy Avenue for having a passenger side headlight out. Hulbert and passenger Erin L. Dilthy, 42, of the 1400 block of Beacon Avenue, were in possession of methamphetamine. Both were arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where they were booked and released with felony charges of possession of methamphetamine.

Sept. 29

12:05 p.m.: Erik Lee West, 41, of the 800 block of Ruth Ann Drive, was arrested after officers went to a business in the 600 block of East 14th Street for a report of property damage. A vending machine was damaged and West was issued a summons for destruction of non-city property. 

Sept. 30

8:31 p.m.: Gianni Noel Ramos, 26, of Florissant, was arrested after a vehicle stop for a faulty tail light in the 1800 block of South Limit Avenue. Officers searched the vehicle after smelling marijuana and located three bags of marijuana and a bottle with blue pills. Officers confiscated the items and issued the driver a citation for possession of marijuana. 

11 p.m.: Osvaldo Sebastian, 20, of the 4200 block of West Main Street, was arrested after being stopped at West 16th Street and South Warren Avenue for failing to maintain a lane and having a rear license plate cover obstructing visibility. Sebastian was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where an investigation revealed him to be intoxicated by drugs. He was booked for driving while intoxicated - drugs, driving with a suspended license, and two failure to appear warrants.

Oct. 1

11:08 p.m.: Castro Perez Genivardo, 20, of Columbia, was arrested after a crash was reported on the Missouri State Fairgrounds. A truck struck a fire hydrant and was damaged. Genivardo was arrested for driving while intoxicated, taken to the Pettis County Jail, and released to a sober person. 

Oct. 2 

1:45 a.m.: Tiffany Marie Morrill, 34, of the 300 block of East Harvey Street, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 300 block of East Boonville Street for a suspected burglary in progress. It was determined to not be a burglary in process but trespassing. Morrill was issued a citation for trespassing and then vacated the premises. 

1:57 a.m.: Alison M. Kowalski, 47, of the 1600 block of East Fifth Street, was arrested after a vehicle stop near West Broadway Boulevard and South Barrett Avenue for conducting an improper turn and failing to maintain a lane. Kowalski was intoxicated by drugs and alcohol, and marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located in the vehicle. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

5:20 a.m.: Cecilio Rubio-Leon, 39, of the 200 block of South Moniteau Avenue, was arrested after a stop at East Broadway Boulevard and South Marvin Avenue for several moving violations and indicators of intoxicated driving. Rubio-Leon was found to be intoxicated and was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending charges of driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license, and a failure to appear warrant. 

8:39 p.m.: Justin R. June, 28, of the 800 block of Ruth Ann Drive, was arrested after a traffic stop at West Ninth Street and South Quincy Avenue for a rear license plate not registered to the vehicle. A check showed the driver had no driver's license and a suspended driver's license out of Kansas. June was transported to Pettis County Jail, where he was booked for driving with a suspended license and released. 

Oct. 3

12:43 a.m.: Trace Daniel Dunham, 20, of the 2900 block of South Ohio Avenue, was arrested after a vehicle stop near West 32nd Street and South Park Avenue for speeding. Dunham was intoxicated and in possession of marijuana. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked on a state charge of driving while intoxicated – drugs. 

Incidents

Sept. 27

2:20 p.m.: A victim stated she had been beaten and had items stolen from her in the 1100 block of South Limit Avenue. The victim had severe injuries to her face and body and was treated at Bothwell Regional Health Center. At the time, no suspect had been identified. 

Sept. 30

2:51 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the SPD lobby to speak with a city employee who wanted to report a water meter was damaged in the 2100 block of East Broadway Boulevard. He stated the meter was removed from one address and placed on another, resulting in an emergency repair needing to be done, costing $700. The suspect was named and questioned by staff, but they could not determine who damaged the meter.

7:05 p.m.: Officers took a runaway juvenile report in the SPD lobby. The juvenile was located out of state by another agency. The parents were informed and will arrange to pick up the juvenile. 

9:46 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 1700 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft. The officer spoke with the caller, who said her skateboard was stolen while she was inside the store. No suspect has been found. 

10:04 p.m.: An officer spoke with a man over the phone in reference to his juvenile daughter running away from home in the 1600 block of East 17th Street. She was entered as a runaway. 

Oct. 1

12:12 p.m.: An officer responded to the 500 block of East 25th Street for a burglary report. The property owner stated her house was entered and items were removed valued at $5,000. A suspect has not been located. 

6:56 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of East Broadway Boulevard regarding a vandalism report. They met with the victim, gathered all the necessary information, and documented it in a report. There were no suspects.

9:29 p.m.: Officers were contacted in the parking lot of a business in the 3000 block of South Limit Avenue in assistance finding an Apple AirTag that was tracking the victim. The victim searched their car while in the parking lot and located the AirTag and turned it over to the police, who collected the necessary information to write a report.

Oct. 2

7:17 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to Katy Park, 2200 S. Grand Ave., in reference to a subject misusing 911. Dispatch received four 911 calls from the subject within 11 minutes and the subject also cursed at emergency operators. He was located and arrested for misuse of 911 and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold. 

8:36 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1300 block of South Carr Avenue for a theft report. The victim stated he checked his surveillance cameras and observed a suspect force entry into his shed and steal $200 in medical marijuana. The suspect caused $500 in damage to the shed. At the time of the report, the suspect has not been identified. 

10:51 a.m.: An officer responded to the 1100 block of East 15th Street to investigate a reported vehicle theft. The victim and a witness stated a vehicle was initially loaned to someone known to them for an hour but was not returned. The officer left a voicemail for the suspect, but there is nothing further to report at this time. 

8:27 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft report. Officers spoke with asset protection, who said a male left the store without paying for items. Video footage was obtained.

9:05 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 4000 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to stolen money. Information was gathered from victims who believed that money was stolen from their hotel room earlier in the day. No suspect is known at this time. 

Oct. 3

1:35 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the SPD lobby in reference to a stolen bicycle. The victim said his bicycle was stolen near 13th Street and South Ohio Avenue while he was hanging out with a friend. A description of the bicycle was given, but no suspects are known.

Incidents

Oct. 2

8:45 p.m.: A deputy on patrol in the area of Highway MM and West Highway 50 witnessed two vehicles on the side of the roadway with their hazard lights on. Contacting them, both drivers said they had been involved in a crash just west of MM on Highway 50. A report was taken and both drivers were released.

Oct. 1

1:22 p.m.: Justin S. Ross, 22, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for a felony Johnson County warrant, felony possession of a controlled substance, and second-degree burglary. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail.
