This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Oct. 3

4:22 p.m.: Adonis J. Mason, 26, of the 600 block of South Missouri Avenue, was arrested after officers conducted a vehicle stop near the intersection of West Sixth Street and South Missouri Avenue. The driver was arrested for driving with a revoked driver's license and a probable cause search located two small baggies of marijuana, which were seized for destruction. 

Oct. 4

6:03 p.m.: Cal A. Childers, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested after the Sedalia Police Department responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street for an assault. Contact was made with the victim, who reported she was struck in the face by Childers with a blunt object. Childers resisted arrest, attempted to hurt officers, and had to be secured in the WRAP restraint system and transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for a fit for confinement. He was later transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of second-degree felony assault, armed criminal action, felony resisting arrest, and fourth-degree aggravated assault.

Incidents

Oct. 3

11:12 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of East Broadway Boulevard to take a report of a stolen dealer tag.

12:38 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 800 block of Ruth Ann Drive in reference to a vehicle theft. The victim said their motorcycle was stolen overnight. 

1:01 p.m.: An officer took a forgery report in the SPD lobby from a victim who stated someone used her information to open a credit card account. 

3:25 p.m.: An officer initiated a vehicle pursuit on a stolen vehicle near the intersection of West 24th Street and Clinton Road. The vehicle sped south to 32nd Street and then east at a high rate of speed. The pursuit was terminated due to heavy traffic and the stolen vehicle’s driver’s poor driving. 

5:14 p.m.: A victim came to the SPD to report a domestic assault. The victim had video of the suspect hitting and kicking him. One video shows the suspect driving through the yard toward the victim. He did not want to press charges and stated that he only wanted this as documentation. 

8:39 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of South Carr Avenue for a reported assault. It was determined an assault took place at an earlier time between juveniles. A suspect was identified and a juvenile referral was completed. 

Oct. 4

9:58 a.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 100 block of West 17th Street in reference to a theft. The complainant stated that overnight, a 12-foot U-Haul trailer was stolen from their lot. Security video of the theft was recovered and the investigation is ongoing. 

4:38 p.m.: An officer met a victim in the SPD lobby in reference to a hit-and-run accident. The victim stated his vehicle was struck while parked at a business in the 600 block of East 14th Street. The striking vehicle left the scene without providing information. 

11:01 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 900 block of South Kentucky Avenue in reference to a possible stolen vehicle. A computer check revealed it was stolen in Warrensburg and it was towed. Officers were unable to contact the owner.
