This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Sept. 8

11:17 a.m.: Cody J. Copas, 27, of the 1400 block of Elm Hills Boulevard, was issued a summons after a traffic stop near Thompson Boulevard and Darrell Drive for speeding. Copas’ driver's license has been revoked and he was issued a citation. 

9:10 p.m.: Kevin C. Egner, 27, from the 500 block of East 16th Street, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to the 1300 block of South Harrison Avenue in reference to a sex crime. The victim discovered sexual photos and videos of herself on the phone of a man known to her showing him touching her in a sexual way. She confronted him about this and also discovered they had intercourse on another occasion while she was intoxicated and incapable of providing consent. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold while charges are being sought for rape and first-degree sexual abuse.

Sept 5

4:49 p.m.: Officers responded to the 2300 block of South Washington Avenue in reference to property damage. A mailbox had been damaged worth $250.

Sept. 8

9:34 a.m.: An officer took a report of forgery at a business in the 4400 block of Wisconsin Avenue. The complainant stated a suspect used a fraudulent check to purchase items from the store.

Incidents

Sept. 3

Midnight: A deputy took a report of a lost or possibly stolen license in the 22000 block of Daviss Road in Knob Noster.

Sept. 6

7:17 p.m.: Deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers observed two vehicles traveling south on U.S. Highway 65 in the area of Bothwell Park Road at speeds well over 100 miles per hour. Both vehicles were stopped and the drivers were arrested, booked, and released. 

Sept. 9

2:22 a.m.: An deputy on patrol near Oak Grove Lane and West Main Street witnessed a vehicle with no front plate, and was advised the other plate was expired. A traffic stop also revealed the driver's license was suspended. The driver was issued a citation roadside.

Arrests

Sept. 6 

2:30 p.m.: Anthony L. Bettencourt, 47, of Jefferson City, was arrested in Moniteau County for possession of 10 grams or less of marijuana. He was released on scene.

Sept. 7

7:36 p.m.: Ronald L. Todd, 71, of Centerview, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated. He was released to medical staff for treatment.

Sept. 8

1:04 p.m.: Chavez D. Kent, 21, of Gilliam, was arrested in Saline County on an arrest warrant and for felony driving with a revoked license. He was transported to the Saline County Sheriff's Department.

8:09 p.m.: Larry A. Collins, 48, of Belton, was arrested in Johnson County for felony driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving resulting in a crash, and a misdemeanor arrest warrant from Lake Winnebago. He was transported to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office and released.
