This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Sept. 15

11:10 p.m.: Artur Rudishin, 23, of the 4000 block of Par 5 Drive, was observed on a moped traveling west on 16th Street weaving back and forth between the two westbound lanes. He jerked the moped to the right, jumped the curb, jumped back onto 16th Street, and was swerving and crossing the eastbound lanes. During a traffic stop at West Main Street and Water Tower Road, Rudishin was found to be intoxicated and had injuries from falling off the moped. He refused treatment on scene and was arrested and transported to the SPD, where he refused to provide a breath sample. A search warrant was obtained and a blood draw was conducted. He was released to the hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. A request for a charge of driving while intoxicated – prior offender has been submitted to the prosecutor. 

Sept. 20

6:25 a.m.: Joshua A. Cormican, 21, of the 2000 block of South Harrison Avenue, was arrested after a vehicle stop at West Main Street and South Quincy Avenue. A probable cause search found marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The driver was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked, and released with charges of marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sept. 19

8:21 p.m.: Officers responded to the 700 block of East 14th Street in reference to a child abuse report. The complainant stated the father of a juvenile was refusing to pick up or care for them. Officers made contact with the father who still refused to care for the juvenile. They contacted the mother out-of-state and she was able to find a suitable arrangement. A child abuse hotline was made and state charges are being requested. 

Sept. 20

8:39 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to a property damage report at a business in the 4000 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The reporting party said it appeared someone drilled a hole into the gas tank of their work vehicle, causing the gasoline to spill out. The estimated cost to fix the gas tank was $500. 

3:15 p.m.: First responders were dispatched to the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and State Fair Boulevard in reference to an injury accident. During the accident investigation, marijuana was found in one of the vehicles. It was seized for destruction.

7:12 p.m.: Officers responded to the 500 block of East Jackson Street in reference to a suspicious trailer. The caller said the trailer had been sitting in front of the residence for approximately a week. Officers tried to make contact with the owner without success, so it was towed.
