This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Sept. 20

4:59 a.m.: Ramon Alejo-Romero, 41, of the 700 block of East 10th Street, was arrested after a traffic stop on a 2000 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a defective driver side headlight. The driver was arrested for driving with a revoked license and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released.

Sept. 23

4:33 p.m.: Nickie E. Smith, 35, of the 1400 block of East Sixth Street, was arrested after officers with dispatch to the 1400 block of East Sixth Street in reference to a disturbance. Officers were told the female subject was assaulted by a subject unto her who was intoxicated. Officers located the intoxicated female and she was issued a municipal summons.

Sept. 24

12:25 a.m.: Malcolm L. Briscoe Jr., 30, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Scott Joplin Court in reference to a disturbance. Briscoe was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour old 4/4 degree domestic assault. 

Incidents

Sept. 22

11:51 a.m.: A victim came to Police Headquarters to report the theft of a wallet. He reported his debit card had also been used on Sept. 28 to make a purchase without his authorization. 

2:24 p.m.: Officers responded to the area of East 16th Street and South Hancock Avenue for a report of an unconscious subject. It was determined that the subject had been assaulted. The victim was transported to Bothwell Regional Medical Center by Pettis County ambulance District.

3:32 p.m.: An officer took a complaint from a woman who said she located a wallet in the 300 block of East Second Street. The owner could not be located and it was placed into evidence.

5:04 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of East 14th Street for a report of possible mail tampering. The reporting party set her mail stopped but was told by the post office it was never put on hold. The investigation continues.

7:05 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to Menards, 4400 Wisconsin Avenue, for a report of an attempted theft. The complainant reported that a subject selected numerous items and threw most of the items over the fence in the lawn and garden area in an attempt to steal them. The suspect fled the business, who recovered all $1,039.33 worth of merchandise. The suspect has been identified and charges have been requested from the prosecutor's office. 

Sept. 23

7:57 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a hit-and-run accident on South Limit Avenue and West Fifth Street. Officers were told a black motorcycle passed between two vehicles and struck the passenger side of a Honda SUV causing damage. No injuries were reported and no vehicles were towed.

11:57 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to  Farm & Home, 1400 South Limit Avenue,  for a vehicle theft. The caller stated his vehicle was parked on the lot on Sept. 19 and was stolen sometime after that.

Sept. 24

1:30 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of McAnally court for a report of vandalism. The victim reported someone set off a fire extinguisher through the open window of her car coating the interior with a dry chemical. There are no suspects at this time.
