This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Incidents

Sept. 27

6:18 p.m.: Officers attempted a traffic stop near the intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and South Porter Avenue for a license violation. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and was not pursued due to the risk to the public.

8:38 p.m.: An officer initiated a traffic stop on a car for stopping over the stop line near Saline Street and North Engineer Avenue. The officer smelled the odor of marijuana and searched the vehicle. A scale with a white residue was located in the car and was seized. No charges are being sought. 

Sept. 28

9:09 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 800 block of Thompson Boulevard in reference to identity theft. The employee stated someone called the previous day and provided sensitive information to change contact information on file. It was later determined this person was not the account holder. 

1:22 p.m.: Officers took a report in the SPD lobby in reference to a vehicle theft that occurred in the area of West Ninth Street and South Kentucky Avenue. The reporting party stated she noticed her vehicle missing earlier in the day. No suspects have been identified. 

5:59 p.m.: An officer responded to West Broadway Boulevard and Thompson Boulevard in reference to a hit-and-run vehicle collision. The victim stated the driver of the other vehicle ran the red light causing the collision and then fled without exchanging information. No suspect has been identified. 

7:03 p.m.: Officers responded to the 400 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a missing juvenile. Officers were able to locate the juvenile and return them home. 

9:06 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a missing wallet. The victim said their wallet was dropped or stolen on Walmart property. Video was reviewed and it was undetermined if the wallet was dropped or stolen. It was later recovered nearby, missing almost $300 in cash. A suspect has not been identified.

Sept. 28

5:10 p.m.: Deputies took a report of a stolen bicycle and a stolen scooter in the 200 block of North Main Street in Green Ridge.
