S-C to host 2 postseason events

Smith-Cotton is the scheduled host for district events in baseball and girls soccer, while sending its boys tennis team to Jefferson City as the top seed in its postseason bracket.

First pitch in the Class 6 District 5 Tournament at Liberty Park Stadium in Sedalia is slated for 11 a.m. Monday, May 17, in a matchup between top-seeded Jefferson City and No. 8 Waynesville.

No. 6-seeded Smith-Cotton challenges No. 3 Blue Springs South in a 3:30 p.m. start. They face the winner between Rock Bridge and Capital City in the semifinals, which take place May 18.

The district championship is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, in Sedalia.

The Tigers (9-15) finish the regular season next week with a May 11 home game against Clinton and a May 13 road game at Helias in Jefferson City.

GIRLS SOCCER

The Lady Tigers drew a 7 p.m. meeting Monday, May 17 with Lee’s Summit West in the Class 4 District 12 Tournament, hosted at Tiger Stadium at Jennie Jaynes Activities Complex in Sedalia.

Smith-Cotton (17-2-1) received a No. 3 seed in the four-team bracket. Lee’s Summit hosts Raymore-Peculiar on the other side of the fold to determine the championship fixture.

The C4D12 final is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, in Sedalia.

BOYS TENNIS

Smith-Cotton boy’s tennis earned the top seed in the Class 2 District 5 Tournament, hosted by Helias Catholic in Jefferson City.

The Tigers (11-5) dropped three straight dual matches to conclude the regular season. After receiving a bye, S-C looks to bounce back 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, against the winner between Rolla and Lebanon.

Helias received the No. 2 seed, followed by No. 3-seeded Warresnburg. Sedalia defeated both teams in the regular season via 5-4 decisions.

TRACK AND FIELD

Cole Camp, Smithton, Stover and Windsor travel Saturday to Higginsville for the Class 2 District 7 Track and Field Meet at Lafayette County High School.

Tipton is scheduled to compete in the Class 2 District 2 event at New Haven High School.

Green Ridge, Otterville and Sacred Heart meet for Class 1 District 5 competition in Hermitage.

HIGH SCHOOL GOLF

Smith-Cotton travels Monday, May 10, to Joplin to compete in the Class 5 District 3 Tournament at Schifferdecker Golf Course.

The Kaysinger Conference (Cole Camp, Green Ridge, Lincoln, Sacred Heart, Smithton, Stover, Tipton) visits Clinton Country Club in Clinton on Monday for the Class 1 District 2 Tournament, hosted by Windsor.
