Smith-Cotton High School senior Rocio Garcia has accepted a scholarship to perform on the dance team at Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas. Garcia was a two-year letter winner on High Voltage, the S-C High dance team.
She earned "Honor Roll" selection (top individual honor) at MA Dance Camp 2020 and "All-Star" (next highest individual honor) at MA Dance Camp 2019. Both years on High Voltage she was selected as the "Silent Leader" of the team for her outstanding focus, respect and work ethic.
S-C High Voltage Dance Team Head Coach Julie Willadsen said, “Rocio is such a hard worker and a positive spirit – she is simply a joy to coach and know. She stands out for truly giving 110% at every practice and performance. She listens with the intention of picking up every detail and applying it to her dancing so that she makes each performance better than her last. She has grown so much over the past two years and I am thrilled to see her dancing at the next level with ICC.”
