Posted

The Sedalia/Pettis County Branch NAACP will offer two $500 scholarships for use next year at a not-for-profit college, university or technical school.

The scholarships are open to any student who will be graduating from high school, who is attending a not-for-profit academic institution, or who will be graduating from college and wishes to pursue a graduate degree next year.

The NAACP scholarship committee does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, color, national origin, age, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, creed, political party affiliation, military status, or disability.

The application involves two letters of recommendation; a transcript from the high school, college, technical school, GED program or home school program the applicant is currently attending; brief answers to questions about the applicant’s choice of major, proposed career, honors won, and community service; and a 500-word essay on a topic given in the application.

To receive an application form, email Rhonda Chalfant at chalfant@iland.net and an application will be sent. The application must be turned in by June 20.

The scholarship committee will make its decision by June 30 and winners will be notified.
