Weather forces vaccine events to be postponed

Posted

The Pettis County Health Center reported 4,894 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.

According to the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force briefing issued Tuesday, this is an increase of 38 cases in the past week and 121 cases in the past two weeks.

The briefing states Pettis County has now vaccinated 13% of the population with at least one dose.

Due to inclement weather, the Health Center has rescheduled the vaccination clinic scheduled for Feb. 16 to Feb. 24.  Anyone with an appointment for Feb. 16 should arrive at the Health Center at the same time on Feb. 24.

Due to weather-related vaccine shipment delays, Bothwell's second-dose vaccine appointments scheduled for this Thursday, Friday and Saturday are being postponed to Monday, Feb. 22 and Tuesday, Feb. 23. According to Pfizer, the vaccine manufacturer, this slight delay in appointments will not affect the effectiveness of the booster dose. If you have an appointment to receive your second dose this week, you will be contacted by Bothwell's scheduling team to reschedule your appointment to Monday or Tuesday as follows:

• 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb.18 appointments will be rescheduled to the same time on Tuesday, Feb. 23.

• 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19 appointments will be rescheduled to the same time on Monday, Feb. 22.

• 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 20 appointments will be rescheduled for the same time on Tuesday, Feb. 23.

Community members who are interested in receiving the vaccine are encouraged to fill out the registration form at www.brhc.org/vaccine or pettiscountyhealthcenter.com. Paper copies are also available at the Health Center and Bothwell clinics. Vaccine appointments will be scheduled for those who are eligible as vaccines are available. Bothwell is currently scheduling the next first dose vaccines for Feb. 27 and March 9 and 10. The website also has information on who is eligible or when you might become eligible for the vaccine.

Due to continued winter weather conditions, Bothwell Regional Health Center’s drive-thru COVID-19 testing location at the Missouri State Fairgrounds Sheep Pavilion will be closed the rest of the week, Feb. 16-20. People with signs and symptoms of the virus should visit the Bothwell Walk In Clinic to be seen by a provider. Clinic hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 16-19 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 20. There will be no curbside testing at this location. The Walk In Clinic is located on the first floor of the Healing Arts Center at 3700 W. 10th Street in Sedalia.
