The Missouri State Fair announced on Wednesday, March 27 that Goo Goo Dolls with The Fray will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug 10 on the Missouri State Fair Grandstand.

Goo Goo Dolls was formed by Rzeznik and Takac in 1986 in Buffalo, New York. According to information from the Missouri State Fair, the group has “broken records, contributed a string of staples to the American songbook, connected to millions of fans, and impacted popular music for three-plus decades.” Beyond selling 15 million records worldwide, the group has garnered four Grammy Award nominations, nearly a dozen platinum and gold singles combined, and 16 number one and Top 10 hits. As a result, they hold the all-time radio record for “Most Top 10 Singles.”

Thus far, "A Boy Named Goo" has gone double-platinum, "Dizzy Up The Girl" five-times-platinum, and "Gutterflower" and "Let Love In" both went gold as "Something for the Rest of Us" and "Magnetic" bowed in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top 200. Their music continues to rack up platinum and gold statuses, including the recently platinum-certified “Slide,” “Black Balloon” and “Better Days,” and has been covered by everyone from Taylor Swift to Phoebe Bridgers and Maggie Rogers.

Among a string of hits, “Iris” was No. 1 on the Hot 100 for 18 straight weeks and would be named “No. 1 Top 40 Song of the Last 20 Years.” After going viral on TikTok, the track recently achieved seven-times-platinum status and re-entered the Billboard charts.

Information from the Missouri State Fair states that Denver-based The Fray formed in 2002 after high school friends Slade and King bumped into each other at a local guitar shop. In 2005, the group achieved national success with their debut self-titled release, featuring the hit singles “Over My Head (Cable Car)” and “How to Save a Life,” which went double-platinum. The release also earned the band a 2010 Grammy nomination.

In February 2014, the group’s fourth album, "Helios," was released. With a sound that features electronic instruments, drum samples, enormous backing vocals, and production assistance from Stuart Price and Ryan Tedder, the new album received early critical acclaim from the Denver Post and Billboard.

The Fray is comprised of Joe King on guitar and vocals, Dave Welsh on guitar, and Ben Wysocki on drums.

Tickets are $70 and $60 and will go on sale to the public starting at 9 a.m. May 21 through Etix.

This show joins previously announced concerts Foreigner with Maggie Rose, Warren Zieders with Wyatt Flores, Tracy Lawrence with Ruby Leigh, Tauren Wells with Jordan Feliz and Ludacris with Dax.
