GFL Environmental is continuing its commitment to giving back to the communities it serves by making two meaningful donations tied to this year’s Missouri State Fair.
Through its Full Circle Project, GFL’s Sedalia operation, the Central Missouri Landfill, donated $1,500 to the Missouri State Fair Foundation to support the Fair’s annual Flag Retreat Ceremony, a nightly tradition that honors a Missouri veteran or active-duty military member.
“It’s an incredibly moving ceremony that shows deep respect for the service of Missouri’s veterans,” said Josh Tanner, General Manager of GFL Environmental. “We’re honored to support this tradition and help provide the flag display cases that allow each honoree to proudly showcase their American flag long after the Fair is over.”
Each evening of the Missouri State Fair, a local military honoree is recognized during a patriotic ceremony that includes a youth-led Pledge of Allegiance, a performance of the National Anthem, and a formal flag presentation. GFL’s contribution helps fund the engraved flag display cases that are given to each veteran or service member as a keepsake of the ceremony.
In addition to this donation, GFL also contributed $3,000 to support Don’s Truck Towing’s First Responder Breakfast Tent at the Fairgrounds. The tent offers free breakfast to police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and other first responders working each day of the Fair.
“The First Responder Tent is a gesture of appreciation to those who keep the Fair safe and running smoothly,” Tanner said. “We’re proud to help make it possible.”
These donations are part of GFL’s broader effort to support organizations, events, and services that make a positive impact in the communities where it operates.
