Search warrants result in drug trafficking arrest

Posted

A 63-year-old Sedalia man faces charges of delivery of a controlled substance, second-degree drug trafficking and possession of a controlled substance following an investigation by the Sedalia Police Department Crime Resolution Unit.

Randy Baker was charged after detectives executed two search warrants connected to property affiliated with Baker on July 17.

The first was served during a traffic stop, while the second took place in the 1500 block of E. Fourth St.  The probable cause statement says Baker was transported back to his residence.

Court documents state the Crime Resolution Unit began investigating Baker in June after he was seen in possession of methamphetamine packaged for sales.

A search of the home recovered two grams of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl. A package of sandwich bags and a digital scale with a white substance consistent with methamphetamine or fentanyl were also located.

The probable cause statement says Baker denied selling methamphetamine, and stated it belonged to a female who had not been to his home in two months.

He stated he used the digital scales to weigh marijuana, which was not found in the residence.

Baker was arraigned on July 18. He is set to appear again July 29.
