Travelers set to compete in state tourney

The Missouri American Legion Baseball AAA State Tournament begins Thursday, July 24, at Liberty Park Stadium.

Six teams will vie for the state championship and the right to advance to the Mid-South Regional in Washington, Missouri, next week.

The six teams have been split into two pools of three, identified as the Stars and Stripes. The winners and runners-up of each pool advance to the state semifinals. 

Sedalia Post 642, competing in the Stars pool, will square off against Kirkwood Post 156 at 5 p.m. Thursday. Festus Post 253 and Jefferson City Post 5 will follow at 8 p.m. in a Stripes pool play game.

The Travelers take on Moberly Post 6 at 5 p.m. Friday, July 25, in their second pool play game. Festus and Warrensburg Mule Club Post 131 will follow at 8 p.m.

Kirkwood will then face Moberly at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, followed by Jefferson City and Warrensburg at 1 p.m.

The first semifinal game between the winner of the Stars pool and the runner-up of the Stripes pool will start at 4 p.m.

The second semifinal game between the winner of the Stripes Pool and the runner-up of the Stars pool will start at 7 p.m.

The state championship game will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 27.
