This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

July 8

3:30 p.m.: Wayne Tyler D. Coslett, 28, of Sedalia, was arrested after the SPD Crime Solution Unit conducted a vehicle stop at South Limit Avenue and West Third Street for expired registration. The driver was found to have an active arrest warrant out of Saline County for failure to appear on a no insurance charge. He was arrested without incident and during an inventory of the vehicle prior to towing, several items related to drug activity were found along with property believed to be stolen. A search warrant of a room at a business in the 1200 block of South Limit Avenue led to the recovery of additional stolen items and items related to drug activity. Two adults were placed under arrest without incident and two juveniles in the room were turned over to the care of the family. At the conclusion of the vehicle stop and search warrant, three individuals were transported to the Pettis County Jail. Charity Rachae Dixon, 23, of the 300 block of McAnally Court, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, stealing of motor vehicle parts, and unlawful transaction with a child. 

July 14

10:57 a.m.: Alexander N. Orloff, 35, of the 200 block of East 13th Street, was arrested after an officer responded to the SPD for a theft of utilities report. An employee stated the water meter had been altered and approximately 6,210 gallons of water was stolen with a value of $104.34. On July 19 an employee observed the water service was altered again. The officer responded to the address on the 200 block of South Osage Avenue to investigate and met Orloff at the home. A computer check to dispatch confirmed he had three active warrants out of Pettis County. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail for his warrants. Charges of theft of utility service and destruction of City property are being requested.

July 20

9:05 a.m.: Nathan L. Riga, 30, of the 1600 block of South Engineer Avenue, was arrested after an officer responded to a business in the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a subject check. On arrival, the subject was asleep in his vehicle while it was running. A computer check confirmed he was driving with a suspended license. Riga was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released. 

7 p.m.: Seth E. Hall, 33, of the 700 block of East 16th Street, was arrested after a traffic stop in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for displaying expired plates. Hall was charged with driving with a suspended license and transported to the SPD where he was booked and released.

Incidents

July 20

11:05 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 100 block of West 17th Street for a report of stealing. The complainant stated sometime between July 13 and July 16 someone stole a white U-Haul trailer valued at $8,000 from the parking lot. There are no suspects at this time.

12:43 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 4100 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a theft report. The manager stated a female entered the store and began collecting merchandise then left the store without paying for the items. The suspect is unknown at this time. 

4:50 p.m.: A theft report was taken by phone from a caller who stated her gun was stolen from a vehicle. Information was obtained and the gun was entered as stolen.

6:20 p.m.: Officers responded to the 500 block of West Fifth Street for a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, the suspect had left. The victim and witnesses reported the suspect slapped the victim during an argument. The suspect was not located at the time of the report and a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault was submitted to the prosecutor.

7:48 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to Child Safe of Central Missouri, 3309 W. Main St., for an emergency interview involving a juvenile. The juvenile made disclosures of incidents that occurred in another county in Missouri. A report will be forwarded to an appropriate agency.

8:24 p.m.: A subject made a report at the police station that a vehicle was stolen. The victim claimed to have loaned her a 2000 Buick LeSabre to a friend on July 17 and it was never returned. The vehicle is valued at $1,500.

10:30 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of South Limit Avenue because a female subject was being dragged by a truck. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a female and later made contact with the male subject at a business on West 16th Street and South Grand Avenue. The male had been instructed to drop the female off at a hotel in Sedalia by the Cole Camp Police Department. There was no evidence of intention to hurt the female and a primary physical aggressor could not be identified. A 12-hour log was started to document the incident.

Arrests

July 20

11:37 a.m.: Quionevans J. Gully, 38, of Jefferson City, was arrested in Saline County for possession of a controlled substance-35 grams or less of marijuana. He was transported to the A3 west substation and released.
