This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

June 8

7:05 a.m.: Shelley Lee Garrison, 47, of the 700 block of South New York Avenue, was arrested on a charge of forgery. An officer was dispatched to a business in the 3400 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a report of a subject who attempted to pay with a counterfeit $50 bill. The suspect, Garrison, was not able to get away with any merchandise, and the cashier seized the fake bill. The caller said the store had security camera footage of the suspect. The officer later located Garrison and placed her under arrest.

3:40 p.m.: Jake N. Robinson, 32, of the 500 block of East 13th Street, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer stopped Robinson’s vehicle for an expired temporary tag. Dispatch informed him that Robinson had a suspended license.

June 9

2:10 a.m.: Angela Michelle Kempf, 26, of the 300 block of North Heard Avenue, and Danielle M. Huerta, 19, of the 1300 block of South Carr Avenue, received a municipal court summons for a charge of possession of marijuana. An officer stopped a vehicle without functional license plate lights in the area of West 11th Street and South Harrison Avenue. He spoke with the driver and passenger. Investigation reportedly revealed both were in possession of marijuana.

8:15 a.m.: Michael Dale Iman, 30, of Columbia, received a municipal court summons for a charge of failure to obtain a permit to burn. An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of West Clay Street to assist the Sedalia Fire Department at an illegal burning. Iman was reportedly burning metals, wires and miscellaneous items. SFD extinguished the fire, and the officer gave Iman a municipal court summons.

4:45 p.m.: Shane Steven Ruth, 30, of the 400 block of North Pine Street, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers observed a male subject walking in the area of East Third Street and South Mill Avenue, and he matched the description of someone with an active Pettis County warrant. Officers contacted the subject and identified him as the suspect with a warrant. They confirmed the warrant was still active and arrested him. During a search of his person, the officers reportedly found drug paraphernalia containing a substance that tested positive for an illegal drug.

8:30 p.m.: Cristian Rodriguez, 21, of the 900 block of Winchester Drive, on a charge of driving with a revoked license. An officer discovered Rodriguez’s license was revoked after stopping his vehicle at West 16th Street and Stone Creek Drive.

June 10

1 a.m.: Keyshawn Jonathan Flowers, 19, of the 400 block of West Broadway Boulevard, was arrested on a charge of violating an order of protection. An officer stopped a vehicle with an expired license plate in the area of South Harrison Avenue and West 10th Street. He spoke with the driver and two occupants before performing a computer check on them through dispatch. He learned the driver had an active order of protection against a passenger in the car. The officer arrested the passenger, Flowers, on the court order violation.

11:45 a.m.: John Prentice Beaman III, 39, of the 400 block of South Engineer Avenue, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Deborah L. Beaman, 35, of the 400 block of South Engineer Avenue, received a municipal court summons for a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. An officer stopped a vehicle for failure to stop and identified the driver and passenger through dispatch. After completing the stop, the officer requested and received consent for a search, which revealed drugs and drug paraphernalia. The officer issued the passenger a municipal court summons and arrested the driver.

5:50 p.m.: Michael Ray Carpenter, 26, of Warsaw, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer performed an investigative traffic stop on a vehicle because the registered owner was documented as having a suspended license. The officer stopped the vehicle in the area of South Missouri Avenue and West 18th Street. A computer check through dispatch confirmed his suspended status.

Incidents

June 8

11:05 a.m.: An officer took a report over the phone of a theft. He spoke with the victim, who said he was missing 49 bales of hay and knew who took them. The victim gave the name of a subject who said he spoke with a person who had bought the hay from the suspect. The officer later spoke with the individual who bought the hay. This person showed two checks for a total of $2,940, which he used to pay the suspect for the hay.

8:25 p.m.: A subject came to the police station to report that items were stolen from her unlocked vehicle sometime overnight. The subject said the vehicle was parked in the 1800 block of East Broadway Boulevard. A Samsung Note 5 and a Samsung S6, with a total value of $550, were stolen from the car. There were no suspects at the time of the report.

June 9

11:20 a.m.: A woman reported 31 pieces of jewelry, including rings and bracelets, were stolen from her residences. She estimated the value of the property to be $449,436. The officer had possible suspect information at the time of the report. An investigation continues.

7:50 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 1700 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of an assault that happened near West 10th Street and South Warren Avenue. He spoke with the victim, who said two men got out of a white Dodge Ram and began to hit him. The victim said he didn’t know the suspects, and they didn’t take anything from him when they assaulted him. He said the suspects left, and he went to the business to call the police. The victim didn’t have any injuries. The officer hadn’t made any arrests at the time of the report.

8:40 p.m.: Officers took a report of a forgery in the police station lobby. The incident occurred about 8 p.m. at a business. The complainant sold a phone to the suspect. He later discovered the suspect had given him a counterfeit $100 bill with pink Chinese writing on it and other discrepancies. The officer hadn’t identified the suspect at the time of the report.

Arrests

June 8

11:25 a.m.: Robert J. Weisner, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on a charge of possession of methamphetamine. Troopers also served a Pettis County felony warrant.

11:30 p.m.: Paul Stewart, 52, of East St. Louis, was arrested in Saline County on felony charges of possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine, possession of codeine and driving with a revoked license.

June 9

12:35 a.m.: Hailey N. Mitchell, 24, of Holden, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and speeding. Troopers also served a felony warrant from the Lee’s Summit Police Department.

2 a.m.: Chelsea M. Schirmann, 21, of Jefferson City, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.

8:45 a.m.: Leonardo Ybarra, 18, of Marshall, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

June 10

12:55 a.m.: Matthew C. Standley, 32, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of driving while intoxicated and speeding.

5:10 a.m.: Ciaran U. Veal, 22, of Knob Noster, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of felony leaving the scene of a crash, driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest.

June 11

2:10 a.m.: Nicholas J. Durran, 23, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.
