JEFFERSON CITY -- Cole Camp and Green Ridge collected medals and Windsor junior Jonah Roberts posted the fastest preliminary times in two sprints Friday on the first day of the Class 1-2 MSHSAA Championships at Adkins Stadium.

Lady Bluebirds seniors Ellie Marimon, Tayler Gudde, Lainy Williams and sophomore Avery Bohon captured fourth in the Class 2 girls 4x800 relay in 10 minutes, 18.76 seconds. Gudde went on to place eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 34 feet, 1 inch.

Windsor junior Jonah Roberts finished the 100 in 11 seconds flat to claim the top seed in the Class 2 final. Green Ridge junior Alex Rebikh (11.70) and Tipton senior Kodie Dick (11.50) each failed to advance to the 100-meter dash final in Class 1 and Class 2, respectively.

Roberts also posted the fastest time in the Class 2 boys 200, crossing the finish line in 22.21.

Green Ridge senior Holly Thomas secured an eighth-place medal in the 3200 with a time of 13:05.41. Cole Camp senior Adam Boyd landed a javelin throw of 153-4 to claim third in Class 2.

Williams advanced to the 400 final with a preliminary time of 1:00.78. Gudde finished 12th in 1:02.58. In the boys 400, Tipton senior Kodie Dick qualified for the final with a runner-up time of 50.99. Cardinals senior Dalton Weaver finished 11th in 52.14.

Tipton senior Dalton Weaver placed 11th in the Class 2 boys long jump with a mark of 19-7 1/2. Windsor sophomore Kenton Sargent recorded a throw of 123-10 inches in the Class 2 boys discus.

Green Ridge junior Riley Hagedorn cleared 4-9 to claim 10th in the girls high jump in her third state appearance, while Tigers sophomore Wyatt Irwin cleared 6 feet to place eighth in the Class 1 boys high jump during his introduction to the state meet.

Freshmen Madysen Brown of Cole Camp (17.46) and Chaislynn Higgins of Tipton (18.32) fell short of advancing to the Class 2 girls 100-meter hurdles final.

Tipton’s Class 2 girls 4x100 relay team of juniors Tyanna Busch, Ella Claas, freshmen Chaislynn Higgins and Karagan Koechner finished 11th in the preliminary race with a time of 52.58, and did not qualify for the finals. Cole Camp’s team of seniors Braiden and Delaney Dougherty, sophomore Destiny Kestner and Brown placed 13th in 53.53.

In the Class 2 boys 4x100 relay prelim, Windsor freshman Dalton Witherspoon, sophomore Jacob Berube, senior Isaac Duckworth and Roberts finished 15th in 46.15.

Tipton’s girls 4x400 relay team was 10th (4:23.01) and Cole Camp followed in 15th (4:35.76). The Cardinals qualified their boys 4x400 team of senior Isaac Ashton, sophomore Dylan Kuttenkuler, Dick and Weaver with a time of 3:32.22. Windsor’s team finished 16th in 3:43.96.
