Posted

The Missouri State Fair has announced the final concert of the 2024 State Fair concert series.

Country music legends Alabama will perform on Saturday, Aug. 17 at the State Fair Grandstand. An opener for the show will be announced at a later date.

According to information from the Missouri State Fair, it's been more than 40 years since Randy, Jeff and Teddy left the cotton farms of Fort Payne, Alabama, to spend the summer playing in a Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, bar called The Bowery. Having grown up working in the fields, the cousins were no strangers to hard work and spent six years working for tips by playing in the bar.

The information states that the band has sold more than 80 million albums and has charted 43 No. 1 singles, including 21 No. 1 singles in a row. Alabama has won more than 178 CMA Awards, Grammy Awards, and ACM Awards. The group has earned 21 Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum albums and was named the RIAA's Country Group of the Century. They are members of the Country Music Hall of Fame and have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They are also philanthropists who have raised more than $250 million for charity.

The band continues to perform to legions of loyal fans, selling out venues night after night. In 2015, they were honored with the ACM Career Achievement Award at the Ryman Auditorium and were named “Album Of The Year” at the Dove Awards for “Angels Among Us: Hymns & Gospel Favorites.”

Tickets to this show are $75 and $65 and will go on sale to the public starting at 9 a.m. May 21 through Etix. This show joins previously announced concerts Foreigner with Maggie Rose, Warren Zieders with Wyatt Flores, Goo Goo Dolls with The Fray, Tracy Lawrence with Ruby Leigh, Tauren Wells with Jordan Feliz, Ian Munsick with Creed Fisher and Ludacris with Dax.

The Missouri State Fair will be hosted Aug. 8-18 in Sedalia. For more information, visit mostatefair.com.
