Bothwell to host vaccine clinic this week

Pettis County added 41 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 5,003, according to the Pettis County Health Center. 

There are now 39 active cases and 4,889 residents have been released to normal activity. Two residents are now hospitalized seeking treatment for the virus.

For the week of Feb. 22-28, there were 26 positives and 526 negatives, which is a positivity rate of 4.71%. The per 100,000 value is 61.41, according to the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force briefing issued Monday.

For the entire month of February, there were 172 uniquely new positives and 1,661 unique negatives. That would lead to February having an overall positivity rate of 9.38%, “a great improvement overall,” the briefing states.

Pettis County has now vaccinated 15.9% of the population with at least one dose. According to the state website, 6,746 Pettis County residents have received at least one dose and 4,563 have completed the two-dose series. 

The briefing states a survey about face coverings will be posted on the Health Center website and Facebook page this week.

The next first-dose clinic hosted by Bothwell Regional Health Center and the Missouri National Guard will be at the MO-Ag Theatre from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 9-10 for those in the Phase 1B Tier 2 group.    

Bothwell has appointments still available on those dates for those individuals who fall under the Tier 2 category (includes age 65 and older and adults with cancer, chronic kidney disease, COPD, intellectual/developmental disabilities, heart conditions, severe obesity, pregnancy, sickle cell disease and/or Type 2 diabetes). Community members who are interested in receiving the vaccine are encouraged to call 660-829-8822.

People who have appointments Tuesday, March 9, and Wednesday, March 10 need to enter Gate 3 to the Missouri State Fairgrounds. Gate 3 is on West 16th Street. Due to sidewalk construction, the main gate on West 16th Street will be closed during the March 9 and 10 vaccination dates.

Bothwell has vaccinated more than 6,000 people since Dec. 18, 2020.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported a seven-day total of 2,218 cases on Monday or an average of 317 per day. There were a total of 17 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Missouri during the last seven days, representing an average of two deaths per day. There were 217,507 vaccines administered in the last seven days in Missouri for an average of 31,072 per day.
