Missouri Retired Teacher Association, Region 5 , Sedalia Community, will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church, 2101 W. 32nd St. in Sedalia. Public school retired personnel are invited to attend. Membership forms will be available. MRTA advocates for and protects pensions, programs, and benefits of retired public school personnel. MRTA is the largest public school retiree association in Missouri representing 100,000 retirees with 30,000 members. MRTA's focus is advocacy, benefits, and community. MRTA is responsible for getting public school social security benefits restored to public school employees as of January, 2025. Local President is Carolyn Hays, Vice-President is Mary Beatty, Secretary is Jeanne Curry, and Treasurer is Evelyn Porter.
The Sedalia Photo Club held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Sacred Heart Parish Center.
Voting was held on the monthly photo theme of “insect, butterfly, bugs.” Color print winners were Bev Gerke, Scott Anderson, Kathryn Marshall, Chuck Leimkuehler, Ron Gillg, and Tara Tencati. Black and white print winners were Bev Gerke, Tara Temcati, and Carolyn Bauer.

The September meeting for the Sedalia Photo Club will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Sacred Heart Parrish Center, 421 W. Third St. in Sedalia. The monthly photo theme is (single or multiple) seed pod or seed. (one four-by-six inch color print and one in black and white). Motion photography will be the topic of discussion.
