The Bothwell Auxiliary is 50 years old. The auxiliary is making plans for a party to celebrate 50 years of volunteering. A date is set for Oct. 9 at the Parkview Christian Church. Each member will be notified at a later date for additional information.
Please stay well, practice social distancing, wash hands often, wear a mask and stay home if sick.
The next meeting is Wednesday, Aug. 11.
Grow and Glow Garden Club FGCM

The Grow and Glow Garden Club FGCM met July 20 at the Tipton City Park. Sixteen members and three guests enjoyed the amenities of the new shelter house.
Ice cream sundaes and mixed nuts were made available by hostesses Twila Garber and Kendra Johnson. The centerpiece featuring Garber’s yellow roses was later delivered to Nancy Byars by Ruth Burlingame. A card was also signed by everyone for Nancy, who is recovering from surgery.
Following refreshments, Sheila Naylor and Jenny Richens, members of the Cole Camp “Friends of the Monarch,” presented the unique program, “Flights of Fancy-Monarch Migration.” The group was able to view actual caterpillars, chrysalis, and newly emerged Monarchs. The Monarch’s lifestyle was discussed, including metamorphoses, and the stages of development.  Each of the four stages was viewed close up and personal. Migration was discussed, with Naylor relating an unusual experience of tagging Monarchs for future identification after their 2,000-mile trip. The need for providing milkweed plants for the survival of Monarchs was stressed. Glow and Grow members enjoyed choosing free Monarch literature and purchasing handmade Monarch-related ornaments.
Club President Barbara Harrison led the business meeting. The Roll Call was completing the sentence, “If I were a migrating Monarch butterfly, my favorite part of my trip would be …”
A final report was presented regarding the successful Annual Rummage, Plant, and Bake Sale, June 4. Harrison also shared how the grant money was utilized for the library presentations. The second sessions will be at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. July 27. The theme of the last session is “Frogs.” The Club voted to donate two copies of “The Frightened Frog” to the Price James Library.
With the upsurge of the coronavirus, the group voted to cancel participation at the Missouri State Fair Flower Show Aug. 18. There will be no August meeting.
Linda Dahl and Gay Nau celebrated July birthdays. The August Price James Library  Arrangement will be provided by Dala Yontz.
LaNell McCleery was a welcome guest.
