Posted

Pettis County added 28 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on March 15, bringing the total number of cases to 5,301, according to the Pettis County Health Center.

Two residents are hospitalized seeking treatment for the virus. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services website reports 77 deaths in Pettis County, an increase of two from last week.

According to the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force briefing issued Monday, this is an increase of 69 positive cases in the past two weeks. The positivity rate for March 1-7 was 6.55% and the cases per 100,000 is 94.48.

Pettis County has now vaccinated 17.4% of the population with at least one dose. According to the state website, 7,351 Pettis County residents have received one dose and 5,277 have completed the two-dose series.

The next first dose clinic will be hosted by Bothwell Regional Health Center on March 26 at the MO-Ag Theater on the Missouri State Fairgrounds for those in all tiers of Phase 1B. The new group, which went into effect Monday, includes teachers, child care providers and designated essential businesses. How quickly health care facilities will be able to schedule those clinics depends on vaccine availability and staffing.

Those who are interested in receiving the vaccine at the March 26 clinic can fill out the online registration at brhc.org/vaccine or print out a form. Registered individuals will be contacted to schedule an appointment as appointments are available.

A survey about face coverings is available at www.pettiscountyhealthcenter.com. When completing the survey, keep in mind the Health Center is only asking about events that have occurred since Aug. 9 when the face-covering rule went into effect. Restrictions on occupancy ended statewide on June 16 and there were no restrictions on occupancy after that date in Pettis County. There were recommendations to continue spacing individuals 6 feet apart.

Community COVID testing continues daily at Katy Trail Community Health in Sedalia. COVID immunizations are being provided at all Katy Trail locations. For more information, call 877-733-5824 or visit www.katytrailcommunityhealth.org.
