This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Dec. 6

6:01 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of Buckner Court for a report of a structure fire. Upon the officer’s arrival, the Sedalia Fire Department had the fire under control and there were no injuries. The suspicious fire was under investigation at the time of the report. During the investigation, a suspect was identified and the suspect was later located and questioned. The suspect eventually admitted to starting the fire. Quincy D. Pierce, 26, of the 400 block of Buckner Court, was arrested for first-degree arson.

Dec. 9

7:47 p.m.: A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle for an equipment violation on East Pettis Street at North Ohio Avenue. The driver was discovered to have no driver’s license. Jubyris M. Jordan, 25, of the 400 block of Welch Court, was arrested for operating a vehicle without a license.

Dec. 10

1:09 a.m.: Officers conducted a stop on a vehicle for the registered owner having an active warrant. The warrant was confirmed and the individual was found to have concealable contraband on his person, which was taken into the Pettis County Jail. Scott W. Mathis, 45, of Cole Camp, was arrested for the warrant, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance in a county jail and the warrant.

Arrests

Dec. 9

9:54 p.m.: The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office and Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force ended a months-long investigation into trafficking heroin from St. Louis to Sedalia when deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard. During the stop, the driver was identified as Tyrone Davis, of Florissant, and the passenger as Chelsi M. Griffin, of St. Louis. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sedalia Police Department and Moniteau County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit assisted during the stop. A large amount of heroin and cocaine were located along with fentanyl and Xanax. The vehicle and $530 in U.S. currency were seized and the task force will file a forfeiture on both items. Davis was arrested for second-degree drug trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver. Griffin was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
