Two seriously injured in Johnson

Two people suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 1:05 p.m. Monday in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Renita R. Wallace, 64, of Knob Noster, was driving west on U.S. Route 50, west of state Route AA, when she stopped over a hillcrest. An unknown vehicle swerved to avoid Wallace’s vehicle in front of a westbound semi-truck driven by Max E. Horner, 39, of Mound City, Kansas. Horner’s vehicle struck the rear of Wallace’s vehicle.

Wallace and her passenger, Dustin B. Young, 37, were taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence for their injuries.

Reports indicate it is unknown if Wallace or Young were wearing a seat belt.

Man hurt in Johnson accident

An Independence man was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 1:14 p.m. Tuesday in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Antonio J. Kelly, 36, of Kansas City, was driving east on U.S. Route 50, three-tenths of a mile east of Northwest 251st Road, when he slowed to make an improper turn into the median crossover. Another eastbound vehicle driven by Michael J. Anderson, 65, overtook Kelly’s vehicle and struck the vehicle in the rear.

Anderson, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg with minor injuries.
