Illinois man drowns after driving into Johnson County pond

Edward D. Taylor, 25, of Riverdale, Illinois, drowned at 1:18 a.m. Sunday in a Johnson County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Taylor drove into a pond at the Fairfield Inn and Suites, U.S. Highway 50 and Business 13. He exited the vehicle and attempted to swim to shore but became immersed and drowned.

His body was recovered and released to the coroner.

Knob Noster man hurt in Johnson accident

Vernon R. Houts, 51, of Knob Noster, sustained minor injuries at 5:26 p.m. Saturday in a Johnson County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Houts was driving a 1999 Ford F250 north on Highway B when he traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, crossed over the center of the roadway, and struck a tree.

It is unknown if Houts was wearing a seat belt. He was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg by Johnson County Sheriff's Department deputies.

Marshall woman hurt in Saline accident

Pamela D. Swagert, 39, of Marshall, sustained minor injuries at 7:10 p.m. Friday in a Saline County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Swigert was driving a 2006 Volvo XC90 east on Route P at Route D when she failed to stop at a stop sign, traveled off the east side of the roadway, and hit a fence.

She was wearing a seat belt and was transported by Slater EMS to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Marshall man hurt in Saline County accident

Louis G. Edge, 30, of Marshall, sustained minor injuries at 7:30 a.m. Sunday in a Saline County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Edge was driving a 1996 Jeep Cherokee north on Route E at Route H when he failed to yield to a Saline County deputy and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and overturned.

It is unknown if Edge was wearing a seat belt. He was transported by Saline County Ambulance District to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
