FedEx announces upcoming closure of Sedalia Ship Center

Posted

The FedEx Ship Center in Sedalia is permanently closing later this summer.

The closure of the 1511 Waterloo Dr. facility, as part of FedEx’s Network 2.0 initiative, is scheduled for Aug. 29. The number of employees impacted, FedEx says, is currently unknown as the company works with staff on options available.

“As part of our previously announced network transformation strategy, the FedEx facility on Waterloo Drive in Sedalia will close on August 29,” FedEx said in a statement. “Team members at the facility were notified several months in advance, and certain employees will be offered other roles within the company.”

According to FedEx, its Network 2.0 is designed to improve the pickup, transport and delivery of packages nationwide. The plan includes a consolation of stations, package handoffs and network optimization.

"These decisions are never taken lightly and reflect our commitment to supporting affected employees – through job placement assistance, relocation aid, or severance, as applicable – while transforming our network and continuing to provide an outstanding experience for our customers,” FedEx said.

Though the Ship Center is closing, drop-off locations will continue to be available in Sedalia at Dollar General at 713 E. Broadway Blvd. and Walgreens at 801 S. Limit Ave. Drop Boxes will continue to be accessible outside the Pettis County Courthouse at 415 S. Ohio Ave. and Thompson Hills Shopping Center at 3101 W. Broadway.

Drop off locations around the region can be found at fedex.com.
