A local man has been charged after the Sedalia Police Department conducted a drug investigation.

According to an SPD news release, just after 6 a.m. Monday, members of the Sedalia Police Department’s Crime Resolution Unit and Tactical Entry Unit responded to the 300 block of North Heard Avenue to serve a search warrant related to an ongoing drug investigation. Entry was made through the front door where three adult subjects and two juveniles were found. A male suspect believed to be involved in the illegal drug activity was detained without incident.

A detailed search of the male suspect’s room revealed a large quantity of methamphetamine, prescription pills, marijuana, U.S. currency believed to be the profit of illegal drug sales and additional evidence to further indicate he was involved in drug distribution.

The residence is located within 1,000 feet of a nearby park, making it a protected location.

At the conclusion of the investigation, the male suspect, Aaron A. Kempf, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of first-degree drug trafficking (methamphetamine), distribution of a controlled substance within a protected location (methamphetamine), distribution of a controlled substance within a protected location (marijuana), possession of a controlled substance (hydrocodone), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
