The Pettis County Shoot enables youth ages 8-18 the opportunity to develop skills in various shooting disciplines while promoting personal growth, responsibility and self-discipline.
Pettis County offers archery, both compound release and fingers, as well as freestyle recurve, for rifle, .22 open and aperture sights, bb and air pistol as well as trap shoot. A new addition this year is the Hunting and Outdoor Skills program, which is a broad discipline covering hunting, wilderness exploration and appreciation and survival skills.
This course runs over the course of several years so students will have a chance to learn something new every year. The competition was held at Rod and Gun Club in Sedalia, starting at 8 a.m. with member-run concessions available and ended at 2:30 with the giving of awards. 61 total 4-H members competed from Pettis, Morgan, Moniteau and Miller counties.
