Sherry Jo Painter-Torres locked in the path to becoming the next Pettis County Clerk during the Tuesday, Aug. 4 Primary Election.
Unofficial results indicate Painter-Torres defeated Jessi Capkovic 3,283-2,913 in the Republican primary. Painter-Torres received 52.99% of the vote.
There were no Democratic or Libertarian filings, meaning Painter-Torres will run unopposed for the county seat in the Nov. 3 General Election.
Painter-Torres previously worked in the clerk’s office underneath former clerk Nick La Strada, working her way up from working on the county’s resolution team to becoming deputy clerk/executive election planner.
The clerk position is currently held by Megan Page, who was appointed by Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe to fill a vacancy created by La Strada’s departure for Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins’ office in 2025.
