Pettis County continues vaccination efforts

Posted

According to the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force briefing issued Monday, there were 4,856 cases as of Monday. The Pettis County Health Center did not issue a local COVID-19 report Tuesday.

This is an increase of 83 cases in the past week and 154 cases in the past two weeks. The positivity rate for the month of January continued to be high at 20.89%, which reflects a large number of cases during the first week of January and the number of people being tested decreasing. The positivity rate for the last week of January was 11.58%, which was an improvement.

The briefing states 11% of the Pettis County population has been vaccinated with at least one dose. Vaccine clinics are planned this week for those in Phase 1A and Phase 1B Tiers 1 and 2. OATS is providing transportation to vaccine clinics free of charge. To schedule transportation, call 1-800-276-6287.

People can register for the vaccine online at katytrailcommunityhealth.org, brhc.org/vaccine, or pettiscountyhealthcenter.com. Forms are also available at the Pettis County Health Center, 911 E. 16th St., Bothwell Regional Health Center and its clinics, several churches in the community, and in the Saturday, Feb. 6 edition of the Democrat.

The Health Center stated in the briefing that if you have submitted a preregistration form, are in an eligible category to be vaccinated, and have not received a call in 10 days, contact the Health Center. If your primary care physician is part of Bothwell, your registration form is most likely with the Bothwell scheduling team.

COVID testing remains available from Bothwell in the Sheep Pavilion on the Missouri State Fairgrounds and at Katy Trail Community Health. Free testing will be available at Katy Trail, 821 Westwood Dr., from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12.
