With a chill in the air and spooky decorations everywhere, West Central Missouri is preparing for a Halloween weekend filled with local events.

Trunk or Treat-Parks & Rec
Sedalia Parks and Recreation will host its second annual trunk or treat from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 29 at Centennial Park.
Trunks will be spaced out along the trail at Centennial Park to ensure safety. Visitors can walk up to the trunks and trick or treat. Prizes will be awarded for the Scariest, Most Unique, and Cutest Trunk Design. Trunks must provide their own candy to pass out.

Downtown Sedalia Trick or Treating
The Downtown Sedalia Alliance will host the annual Sedalia Downtown Trick-or-Treat event from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 29 along South Ohio Avenue plus around the Municipal Building, 200 S. Osage Ave. Look for the orange paper pumpkins in participating storefronts.
Halloween Wreaths
The Art Room, 304 W. Main St., will host a Halloween wreath-making event at 11 a.m. Oct. 29. The cost is $35 per person. Customers can also receive 20% off all Halloween-themed ceramics.
On Oct. 30 30, bring your pumpkin in and paint it at The Art Room. There will also be a costume contest with a chance to win a $10 gift card. This is a free event open to the public.
Haunted Hallway
State Fair Community College will host a Haunted Hallway from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 29 in William C. Hopkins Student Services Center.
Admission is free. Enter through the east doors and exit through the main center doors. There will be free candy and a photo booth in the upper hall. This event is handicap accessible.
Trunk or Treat-FUMC
First United Methodist Church Celebration Center, 1701 W. 32nd St., will host a trunk or treat from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31.
Family Fest
Encounter Church, 1201 N. William Parkhurst Drive, will host Family Fest from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 30. There will be carnival games, inflatables, free food, and more.
Trunk or Treat-Maplewood
Maplewood Church, 25396 Highway O, will host a trunk or treat for kids through sixth grade from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Oct. 31.
Trunk or Treat-Total Fitness
Total Fitness Gym, 1520 Devin Drive, will host a healthy trunk or treat from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 31.
This event was originally inspired by Madilynn Ogle, the daughter of Wayne and Brooke Ogle. Madilynn was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2018 at just 8 years old. Being a diabetic at Halloween is especially hard for a kid, so Total offers this event as a healthy alternative for all kids. Fall Harvest Party
Katy Park Baptist Church, 901 W. 24th St., will host a fall harvest party, complete with hayrides, a bounce house and games for the kids beginning at 4 p.m. Oct. 30.
At 6 p.m., there will be a chili cookoff and the winner will receive the Golden Ladle this year?
Trunk or Treat-Christ and Trinity
Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church, 2101 W. 32nd St., will host its annual Trunk or Treat event from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 in the church parking lot. The church will be giving away candy and other items. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Spooktacular
Warrensburg Main Street is bringing a new look to Halloween this year with the Downtown Spooktacular from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 30, around the Johnson County Courthouse square.
Instead of the traditional trick or treat with businesses on the Friday prior to Halloween, Warrensburg Main Street will be hosting a mini fall event called the Downtown Spooktacular.
The event is free and will consist of hayrides, pumpkin painting, eating contests, activities, games and candy. Many of the activities and games will be hosted by local organizations and businesses.
A costume contest will begin at 11 a.m. on the steps of the Johnson Courthouse. The contest is free to participate in and requires no prior registration.
Age categories are 0-3, 4-12, 13-18 and pets. Each category will be rewarded an overall winner, spookiest costume and cutest costume. Contestants will need to gather at the courthouse by 11 a.m. to be considered.

Cole Camp Pumpkinfest
The Cole Camp Chamber of Commerce is hosting the second annual Pumpkinfest from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 30 in downtown Cole Camp.
In addition to the Trick or Treating Extraganza, costume contest and pumpkin carving/scarecrow decorating contests, the Chamber will be adding a fall vendor show, fall pie auction, and scary scavenger hunt.
Hullabaloo Fall Festival
Cornerstone Baptist Church will host the Hullabaloo Fall Festival from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 on the Missouri State Fairgrounds.
There will be bounce houses, candy, games and hot chocolate. The event is free.
Halloween Boo Bash
Von Holten Ranch in Mora will host a Boo Bash on Oct. 30 and Oct. 31.
There will be trick-or-treating, costume contests, and a scavenger hunt on horseback.
Halloween Campout
Knob Noster State Park will host a Halloween campout from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30.
This event is primarily for registered campers, but local visitors can participate in viewing and trick-or-treating. Campers are encouraged to provide candy for trick-or-treaters.
At 6 p.m. will be trick-or-treating in the campground and judging of campsite decorations. Campers are encouraged to transform their campsites before 6 p.m. with lights and decorations for the Halloween campsite decorating contest. Decorations should be family-friendly and safe for people and wildlife. Winners will be announced at 7:30 p.m. at the amphitheater.

Trunk or Treat-Cole Camp FUMC
Cole Camp First United Methodist Church, 107 N. Boonville Road, will host its third annual trunk or treat from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31.
There will be candy, hot chocolate and hotdogs. The event is free.
Glow Ride
Warsaw Adventures, at Drake Harbor, will host a Halloween Glow Ride at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 on the riverfront trails.
Gear up your bikes with lights or rent one (pre-lit packages available). Warsaw Adventures has headlights and taillights, glowsticks, light strips, wheel lights, disco lights, and other bike illumination for sale at the store. Purchase tickets at www.warsawadventures.com/glow-bike-ride.
Costumes and glow-everything are encouraged. This ride is appropriate for any skill level. This ride is variable in the distance (2-7 miles) traveled to fit any endurance level. Candy and treats will be at each of the three checkpoints.

The Village of Hughesville is hosting a Halloween costume contest from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at Town Hall, 205 Main St.

The Warsaw Chamber of Commerce is hosting the annual Halloween Hoopla from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 29 in downtown Warsaw on Main Street.
Trunk or Treat-A.J.’s Dairy Bar
A.J.’s Dairy Bar, 511 W. Main St., will host a trunk or treat from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 30.
