This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

April 12

2:04 a.m.: Heldart Apinis, 34, of the 2800 block of Monsees Drive, was arrested in the 3800 block of East Broadway Boulevard for driving with a revoked license. An officer conducted an investigative traffic stop for a revoked driver. He was arrested, taken to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released.

April 15

2:03 a.m.: Darin Jordan Johnson, 32, of the 1200 block of Liberty Park Boulevard, was arrested near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue for driving while intoxicated. An officer conducted a traffic stop for moving violations. The driver was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested, taken to the SPD, processed and released with a municipal citation to a sober person.

2:03 a.m.: Vikas Bhardwaj, 27, of the 900 block of Winchester Drive, was arrested near the intersection of West 14th Street and South Warren Avenue for driving while intoxicated-drugs. An officer conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle traveling on the yellow line for the center turn lane for several blocks and later not stopping prior to the line for a stop sign. The driver was impaired by a combination of drugs and alcohol. He was arrested, taken to the Pettis County Jail, boked and released to a sober person.

10:54 a.m.: Uriah K. Otten, 32, of Otterville, was arrested in the 2600 block of East Broadway Boulevard for third-degree domestic assault. An officer responded to a business for a physical domestic disturbance. The officer made contact with the subjects involved. A primary physical aggressor was determined. He was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released.

1:03 p.m.: Vance Edward Slater, 37, was arrested near the intersection of West Fourth Street and South Quincy Avenue for resisting/interfering with an arrest. Officers observed a vehicle that had been reported as stolen April 13. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle near Fifth Street and Beacon Avenue, but the driver did not pull over and continued driving. After a short pursuit, the vehicle pulled over near Fourth and Quincy, where he was arrested without incident. He also had a Benton County failure to appear warrant. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.

8:42 p.m.: Naomi Suzanne Dalton, 52, of the 1100 block of Ware Avenue, was arrested near the intersection of West 15th Street and South Missouri Avenue for driving with a revoked license. An officer conducted an investigative traffic stop, as the registered owner of the vehicle had a revoked Missouri driver’s license. The officer spoke to the driver and the license was confirmed through a computer check. She was arrested but released at the scene with a municipal summons.

9:19 p.m.: Jennifer Lin Woolery, 49, of the 200 block of South Quincy Avenue, was arrested near the intersection of South Lamine Avenue and East Third Street for driving while intoxicated-drugs-persistent offender, possession of a controlled substance, and failure to maintain financial responsibility. An officer responded to a vehicle crash. One of the drivers was intoxicated by drugs. She was arrested and found in possession of methamphetamine. She was taken to the Pettis County Jail and booked for a 24-hour hold pending charges.

April 16

10:55 a.m.: Jessica L. Reed, 26, of Edgerton, Kansas, was arrested near the intersection of East Third Street and South Massachusetts Avenue for driving while intoxicated-drugs, possession of a controlled substance, identity theft, operating a vehicle without a valid license, and failure to maintain financial responsibility. An officer conducted a traffic stop for a driver who failed to signal a turn. The driver was intoxicated by drugs, provided a false name and had no license and no insurance. A search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine. She was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on a 24-hour hold pending state charges.

Incident

April 11

11:45 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the Bothwell Regional Health Center emergency room for an assault. The victim, an employee, was grabbed by a patient, which left redness. The victim wanted to pursue charges. A charge of fourth-degree assault-special victim is being requested.

Arrests

April 12

3:51 a.m.: Pettis County Joint Communications received a call of a subject possibly intoxicated and trespassing in the area of the 25000 block of Angus Drive in Houstonia. Deputies and a K9 unit responded to the address and located an SUV parked behind a building. Deputies spoke with the reporting party, who advised the vehicle and the male sleeping in the vehicle did not belong on the property. Deputies made contact with the subject, Anthony D. Bushnell, and located drug paraphernalia in plain view. As deputies spoke with Bushnell, he appeared to be heavily intoxicated. Deputies located a large amount of a crystal substance on Bushnell’s person. He was taken to the Bothwell Regional Health Center emergency room and deputies will be submitting charges to the Pettis County Prosecutor’s Office.

April 15

3:21 a.m.: Deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East 13th Street and South Washington Avenue in Sedalia. The driver, James Smith, was found to have a revoked license and was arrested. Smith was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released for driving with a revoked license.

7:30 p.m.: A K9 Unit responded to the area of Farmers City Road and Highway O in Sedalia in reference to a subject with a Pettis County warrant walking on Highway O. Deputies located the subject, John Charles Couchman Jr., and a short foot pursuit ensued. Couchman was taken into custody without injuries and taken to the Pettis County Jail for the warrant and resisting arrest.

April 16

11:15 p.m.: Deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East 14th Street and South Summit Avenue in Sedalia. The driver, Steven Kimbrell, was found in possession of a controlled substance and operating a vehicle with a suspended license. Kimbrell was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of driving with a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance.

Incidents

April 12

8:44 a.m.: Deputies took a report of illegal dumping on Adair Road near Jones Road in La Monte.

11:33 a.m.: Deputies took a burglary report in the 13000 block of Elm Branch Road in Windsor. The unknown suspect(s) took a number of items from a shed on the property.

April 14

6:30 p.m.: Deputies were dispatched to the 17000 block of Buchanan Road in Pettis County for a suspicious activity report. A stolen vehicle was located in the area and recovered. THe vehicle was returned to the owner. The male suspect was located later in the day in Sedalia and arrested. He was turned over to Henry County Sheriff’s Office deputies, where the theft had taken place.

Arrests

April 14

8 p.m.: Marquis L. Evans, 53, of Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested in Saline County for driving while intoxicated. Evans was taken to the Concordia Police Department and released.

9:20 p.m.: Douglas C. Ryba, 52, of Lee’s Summit, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and no tail lights. He was taken to the Johnson County Jail and released.

April 15

1:45 a.m.: Jerald J. Allen, 23, of Swansea, Illinois, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, improper passing and interfering with approaching traffic, and no tail lamps. He was taken to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.

3:06 a.m.: Anatolie Cebotari, 26, of Wauconda, Illinois, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail and released.
