This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Dec. 8

3:39 p.m.: Donald Christopher Gibbs, 45, of the 1200 block of West 11th Street, was arrested after officers received a call regarding a possible disturbance. Investigation determined a physical altercation had occurred and Gibbs was the primary aggressor. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending a state charge of fourth-degree domestic assault.

Dec. 9

12:36 a.m.: Marcus Mantrell McKnight, 35, of the 200 block of South Quincy Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop near South Grand Avenue and West 16th Street for driving a vehicle known to belong to an individual with a revoked Missouri driver's license. The vehicle also had no license plates. McKnight was transported to the Pettis County Jail for driving while suspended and released.

12:20 a.m.: Elizabeth May Jones, 24, of the 1000 block of South Merriam Avenue, was arrested after a vehicle stop for failing to maintain a lane. Jones was intoxicated by drugs and alcohol and was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked for driving while intoxicated-alcohol-drugs.

4:31 a.m.: Ashley Anitra Payne, 37, of Marshall, was arrested after a subject who was intoxicated and suspended was reportedly driving and was stopped by police in the 500 block of East 10th Street. Payne was arrested for driving while intoxicated, felony driving with a revoked license, failure to comply with an enemy ignition interlock, and no child restraint. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released.

11:01 a.m.: Austin James Hedrick, 21, of the 1400 block of South Sneed Avenue, was arrested after officers were dispatched in reference to a domestic disturbance. They were told an assault had taken place over the past few days and Hedrick was found to be the primary physical aggressor. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail for fourth-degree domestic assault.

4:45 p.m.: Jose S. Barajas, 21, of the 500 block of West 36th Street, was arrested after officers were dispatched to 32nd Street and Erika Drive in reference to a motor vehicle crash. The victim reported her vehicle was struck and the striking vehicle drove away. The suspect vehicle was spotted near Broadway Boulevard and South Limit Avenue and fled from an attempted traffic stop at slow speeds for around a mile. Officers were able to take Baragas into custody without incident. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash, resisting arrest by flight and driving without a license. No injuries were reported in the accident.

9:19 p.m.: David E. Taylor Jr., 42, of the 400 block of East Jackson Street, was arrested after officers took a report of a previous potential domestic assault and kidnapping that had occurred. They were able to locate and place Taylor under arrest and he was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending charges of first-degree kidnapping, second-degree domestic assault, and driving with a suspended driver's license.

Dec. 10

2:36 a.m.: Derek Kyle Gerke, 33, of the 3900 block of Highway TT in Sedalia, was arrested after a vehicle stop on Clarendon Road south of West 16th Street for failing to maintain a lane several times. Gerke was intoxicated and was transported to the police department for driving while intoxicated.

Dec. 11

1:16 a.m.: Martin Dane Daniels, 57, of Kansas City, was arrested after a vehicle was reported parked in the roadway near Broadway Boulevard and South Vermont Avenue. Contact was made with the driver, who was under the influence of drugs. Daniels was transported to the Pettis County Jail and put on a 24-hour hold pending a state charge of driving while intoxicated-drugs-persistent offender.

Incidents

Dec. 4

4:30 p.m.: Officers received a call in reference to a theft report from a business in the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue. An employee reported a customer failed to return rental property. The case was referred to the county prosecutor.

Dec. 5

2:11 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a report of shoplifting. The suspect had already fled, leaving behind the merchandise. Information was gathered and a report was completed.

5:24 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the police department lobby for a subject wanting to report an assault from earlier in the day. Information was gathered, a report was completed and charges were filed at the victim's request.

Dec. 9

10:22 a.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 1500 block of West Main Street in reference to a possible burglary. Several storage units had been broken into overnight and the total value of stolen items is estimated to be $15,530. No suspects have been located at this time.

10:59 a.m.: Officers responded to West Seventh Street and South Moniteau Avenue for a hit-and-run accident involving two vehicles. Officers arrived on scene, ensured the well-being of the occupants, gathered information and wrote a report.

Dec. 10

9:46 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of West 18th Street regarding shots fired. Upon arrival, contact was made with the resident, who stated she did discharge a firearm. The investigation is ongoing.

12:43 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a verbal disturbance. They were notified that the reporting party's vehicle had been stolen and information was gathered from the victim so their report could be completed. The vehicle was later recovered undamaged.

Dec. 8

11:08 p.m.: Ravinder S. Bassi, 50, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain a lane. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and released.

Dec. 9

1:48 a.m.: Gabrielle D. Phillips, 33, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and a lane violation. She was transported to the Johnson County Detention Center and released.

1:53 p.m.: Charles R. Mullins, 57, of Syracuse, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated, failure to drive on the right-half of the road, and no insurance. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and released.

Dec. 10

2:23 a.m.: Allyk T. Gerhart, 31, of Milan, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, speeding, and no seat belt. She was transported to the Johnson County Detention Center and released.
