This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Feb. 10

1:30 p.m.: Paul J. Schraml IV, 29, of Sedalia, was arrested on new charges in reference to sex crimes against children that had reportedly been occurring for several years on West Ninth Street. The case was transferred to Sedalia Police Department's Criminal Investigations Bureau for further investigation. Through the course of the investigation, evidence was gained and seized to substantiate the sexual abuse allegations. Schraml has been charged with one count of first-degree statutory Rrpe, two counts of first-degree statutory sodomy, two counts of first-degree child molestation, one count of sexual misconduct involving a child, two counts of incest, and one count of tampering with physical evidence in felony prosecution. Officers located the suspect and transported him to Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold with no bond. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 11

10:59 p.m.: Alla V. Mishchuk, 34, of Sedalia, was arrested after a traffic stop for failing to use a turn signal in the area of West Ninth Street and South Vermont Avenue. She had a suspended driver’s license and was transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was booked and released. 

Incidents

Feb. 11

8:40 a.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft. A customer paid for groceries using a counterfeit $20 bill. The customer is a resident of Sedalia and has multiple businesses where customers pay with cash. It is suspected that this is how the customer came into possession of the counterfeit bill. The bill was taken for evidence and there are no suspects at this time.

10:18 a.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue for a report of forgery. The complainant stated that on Feb. 6, a subject used a fraudulent $100 bill to purchase items. When attempting to deposit the bill in the bank Feb. 11, he was informed that the bill was fraudulent.

7:04 p.m.: John R. Sherman, 55, of Rocky Mount, was arrested in Morgan County for driving while intoxicated (first offense).
