taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements

from all parties involved in each case.

Incidents

Feb. 15

1:30 p.m.: Sedalia police were dispatched to a business in the 400 block of West 16th Street for a report of someone passing counterfeit $50 bills. The reporting party stated that on Feb. 8 and Feb. 12 a woman came in and used $50 bills to purchase $5.91 worth of items. Officers were informed that the suspect was captured on surveillance video. Police obtained a copy of the video and saw the suspect was wearing a mask but appeared to be a white female who left the scene in a dark grey SUV. At the time of this report, the suspect had not been located. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 16

7:14 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of state Route U, the City of Sedalia materials management site, for a report of a burglary. The reporting party stated that sometime between 3 p.m. Feb. 12 and 6:30 a.m. Feb. 16 someone tried to cut the chain to the front gate. The door to the compost office was also damaged. Nothing was found to be missing. Damage to the chain and door was estimated at $120.

9:27 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 2100 block of South Limit Avenue for a theft report. The owner stated that between Feb. 14 and Feb. 16 someone had stolen a catalytic converter valued at $2,000 from one of his vehicles. There are no suspects at this time.
