This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Feb. 20

2:12 a.m.: Mercedes Baker, 19, of the 2000 block of West Second Street, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to the 2200 block of West Third Street in reference to a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle was occupied, running, and during the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Baker was transported to Pettis County Jail pending a charge of driving while intoxicated-drugs.

Feb. 23

9:21 p.m.: Roger Wayne Lindsey Sr., 59, of the 600 block of 16th Street, was arrested after a traffic stop on a vehicle with no tail lights near West Broadway Boulevard and Oak Grove Lane. It was determined Lindsey was intoxicated and he was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a charge of driving while intoxicated-drugs.

Feb. 24

9:33 a.m.: Juan Beltran Jr., 41, of the 400 block of Montgomery Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop for speeding near East Fourth Street and South Montgomery Avenue. Beltran was transported to the police department and issued a summons for driving without a license.

Feb. 9

3:27 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the Pettis County Jail in reference to a property damage report. A subject keyed several of the employees’ vehicles while they were parked nearby. The incident was recorded on a security video and the suspect was immediately recognized. State charges and property damage were recommended to the prosecutor.

Feb. 23

10:35 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a forgery report. The suspect attempted to pass a fake $20 bill in the store. The bill was confiscated and entered into evidence for destruction.

4:35 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 800 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a theft report. A suspect stole several snacks from the store and was identified by staff.

Feb. 24

2:43 p.m.: Officers were sent to the 800 block of Thompson Boulevard to meet with a victim who said someone stole his vehicle. The victim said he was getting gas in the 3200 block of Broadway Boulevard when the suspect asked for a ride to the AT&T building. When they arrived, the suspect jumped out of the car and got into the victim’s 2007 Ford Focus and drove off. The victim realized the suspect had taken his phone and he chased her car through the Thompson Hills Shopping Center lot. He was able to catch up and yelled at the suspect to get back his phone. She threw the phone out of the car, cracked the screen and drove off.

Feb. 25

10:47 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to an assault report near South Ohio Avenue and East Seventh Street. The victim stated she was assaulted at an after-party around 3 a.m.

Feb. 26

3:23 p.m.: An employee of a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard entered the police department lobby to report a theft that occurred Feb. 23. Two subjects walked out of the business with more than $300 worth of merchandise without paying. A report was completed.

Feb. 23

Midnight: A caller in the 17000 block of Thornleigh Drive reported that she was the victim of identity theft and harassment.

Arrests

Feb. 23

10:37 p.m.: Dustin M. Schmidt, 46, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for felony driving while intoxicated and failure to yield. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and released.

11 a.m.: Felipe Granado, 45, of Marshall, was arrested in Saline County for felony driving with a suspended license. He was transported to the Saline County Jail and released.

Feb. 24

1:42 a.m.: Victor S. Rojas Gomez, 22, of Pleasant Hill, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, no valid driver's license, speeding, failure to drive on the right-half of the roadway, failure to signal when changing lanes and no insurance. He was transported to the Johnson County Sheriff's Department and released.

11:49 p.m.: Blaine A. Winkler, 26, of Windsor, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right-half of the roadway. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and released.

Feb. 25

1:29 a.m.: Edward J. Werth, 61, of Olathe, Kansas, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, driving with a revoked license, failure to move over or slow down for a stationary emergency vehicle, no insurance, a lane violation, and failure to move right. Werth was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.

9:25 p.m.: Steven P. Markley, 62, of Marshall, was arrested in Saline County for felony driving while intoxicated, driving with a revoked license, and failure to drive on the right-half of the roadway. He was transported to the Saline County Sheriff's Department and released.

11:37 p.m.: Daniel T. Brennan, 33, of Windsor, was arrested in Henry County for felony possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor warrant from the Henry County Sheriff's Department, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Henry County Sheriff's Department.
